Have you got a problem?

Do what you can where you are with what you've got. Theodore Roosevelt

At the year end performance review: Victor’s manager asked him: “Give your evaluation about me as a manager?”

Victor raised this in our Services Excellence Workshop where over 30 people attended.

Victor’s problem: He could not tell his manager: You suck!

He ended up saying nothing, even he wanted to say something!

I would rather earn 1% off a 100 people's efforts than 100% of my own efforts.

John D. Rockefeller

I said: Toastmasters teach you how to give constructive feedback without hurting the other person.

Tom, our instructor: Why don’t you form a Toastmasters Club?

Me: I’ll arrange an Information Session.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. Ralph Waldo Emerson

March 4th, 2010: I said we’ll have an Information Session

March 5th, 2010: We had this session with District 2 Toastmasters

The secret of getting things done is to act! Benjamin David

To charter a Toastmasters

Club, you need 20 members

From March 5, I took an

action almost daily

My Goal: to have 20

members signed up by

April 1st

When you try to sell an idea to someone, there are 4 polite responses: a)  I don’t know b) I might c) I will d) I do Only people who say “I do” will write you a check

Dzung Vuong

There are about 100 people in the

office

Within 2 weeks, one third of top managers signed up as members

I signed up for this Toastmasters Club, why don’t you give it a try?

Or, Steve, do you know Tim (his manager) & Ann (his peer) both signed up?

Or, did you know that both Pedro (2nd most senior manager) and David (Top Manager) both

signed up?

Tactics

There is no sales tactic as powerful as Personal Stories

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

William Clement Stone
