Transcript of "How Luke Sanford Communicates" 2010

Luke cannot hear. He must see your face to read your lips.

Luke reads PECS and large print text.

Luke uses his communication binder to express himself.

Luke uses his sentence starters. He is saying, "I want”.

To complete his sentence he is saying “I want after school” – Luke is saying he wants school to be done for the day.

Luke has wonderful manners. He is saying, “thank you”.

He enjoys talking about his day.

He uses his binder often. He’s about to say what he will do after school

Luke is saying,” sit down.”

Luke is working with new technologies to help him communicate. Here is a switch that lets Luke click with a mouse or use other devices.

The program Writing With Symbols lets Luke write about his day, make up stories, and tell jokes. It’s new for Luke and very exciting. Someday Luke might have a machine that reads whatever he writes out loud.
