Slides were used at MPI European Meetings & Events Congference (#EMEC13 ), Montreux, Swiss on January 28th, 2013 with Gerrit Heijkoop & Donald Rooos of How Can I Be Social (HCIBS) as part of the MPI Educational sessions. Title: How Can I Be Social - A Case Study of MPI's EMEC Social Scenario Speakers: Gerrit Heijkoop, Executive Partner, and Social Network Consultant for Events & Conferences and Donald Roos, Chief Design Officer at How Can I Be Social (HCIBS) Date/Time: 28 Jan 2013, 10:45-12:15 Location: Auditorium Stravinski / Level 5 / 2m2c Montreux Music & Convention Centre This Session Earns Attendees 1.5 CEU credits. Seminar Details: Gerrit Heijkoop and Donald Roos will take you on a journey that will grow your confidence in how to approach new social technologies when organizing your next meeting or event. During this interactive session they will help you understand the new ‘ground rules’ of online Social Networking. They will explain why Social Media are such powerful tools around live events and meetings. Based on the real-time case example of EMEC13, Gerrit and Donald will guide you through several ‘Social Scenarios’. A ‘Social Scenario’ is a combination of a storyline, tools and operations, specifically designed to support a certain business process. This will make it easier for you to determine whether you should consider Social Media at all for your next meeting or event, which resources you need, what to do with them and how to get results. Learner Outcomes: 1. Reflect on your own experiences with online networking technologies so far 2. Share your learnings, fears and questions with other session participants 3. Collect some very practical tips to implement in your own meetings About Donald Roos: Since January 2012 How Can I Be Social (HCIBS) creates smart scenarios to help you use Social Networks in an efficient and effective way. Combining technology, stories and creative design to generate more value, with less effort! You might have heard about them before as the co-founders of Triqle Event Intelligence, which developed the award-winning software platform “What’s On?”. This online tool allows you to reduce your CO2 footprint by eliminating the use of paper, while at the same time increasing the interaction and engagement with the attendees of your next event Donald Roos (1978) has a background as graphic designer and is still part-time lecturer at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. Entrepreneur since 2001, specialized in designing effective online and offline communication around live events since 2009. His strength as a designer helps him determining the sense and nonsense of Social Media and online technologies.
