Intended Audience
This guide is intended as an installation manual for the administrators, the agents and the
clients on how to install the hotEx Billing Manager application.
Purpose of this Guide
This guide describes the step-by-step installation process of the hotEx Billing Manager
application.
Typographical Conventions
Before starting, it is important to understand the typographical conventions used in this guide.
TABLE 1: TYPOGRAPHICAL CONVENTIONS
Typeface Meaning
Bold Menu items, input fields, radio button names, check boxes, drop-down lists, tab names, buttons on the screen.

Installation
Before you install HotEx Billing Manager, you must properly check for the system requirements and
the network connectivity.
System Requirements
Hardware and Software requirement
�� Pentium 4
�� 1GB RAM (recommended)
�� Two Ethernet Cards
�� 4GB Hard Disk (minimum requirement)
�� CD-Drive
�� HotEx Billing Manager Installation CD
The hotEx Billing Manager CD will automatically install the Linux core and install the necessary
modules for hotEx Billing Manager function to build the hotEx Billing Manager server on the installed
system. No software or Operating System is required for the HotEx Billing Manager Installation. The
HotEx Billing Manager Installation software will format your hard disk and install the Linux server.
You have to keep a dedicated PC as server.

Network Setup
The following diagram illustrates the network setup for the HotEx Billing Manager.
The HotSpot Linux server is connected to the internet. The LAN clients and WiFi clients get
connected to the internet via the HotSpot Linux server.
After the configuration of the HotSpot server, the customers are recommended to test the following
network connections:
�� Check the connection between the Linux server and the Internet
�� Check the connection between the LAN clients and the Linux Server
Installing HotEx Billing Manager
Insert the HotEx Billing Manager Installation CD and configure the HotSpot Linux server as guided
by screenshots from HotEx Billing Manager. HotEx Billing Manager will install the hotEx Billing
Manager suite in the server.
Warning:
The HotEx Billing Manager Installation software will format your hard disk.

To start the installation
1. Run the HotEx Billing Manager Installation CD. Welcome to HotEx Billing Manager Software Installation page is displayed.
2. Press ENTER. The installation process continues with various screens and HotEx Billing Manager Software Installation displays the screen as shown in the following figure.

3. Select the appropriate time zone and click OK. It formats the disk automatically, and
installation process continues with various screenshots.
4. Once the installation is completed, HotEx Billing Manager Software Installation displays the screen as shown in the following figure.

Client Side Configurations
To configure the client PC, and to set the IP address, you have to obtain the LAN IP address to
login to the application.
To configure client pc
1. On the desktop of the client PC right-lick My network Places icon and select Properties.
2. The Network Connections page is displayed.

3. Right-click Local Area Connection icon and select Properties. The Local Area
Connection Properties page is displayed.
4. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties. The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

5. Select Obtain an IP address automatically option and click OK.
6. Click OK. The desktop of the client PC is displayed.

7. On the desktop of the client PC, click Start and select Run.
8. Type cmd and click OK. The Command Prompt is displayed.
Note:
Use the DOS command “IPCONFIG” and ensure that the system ‘obtains
IP number’ from the hotEx Billing Manager server, in the range of
192.168.96.2 or similar.
If not, it is understood that the system is connected to the WAN network.
Hence, you have to swap the cable and connect to the LAN network and
repeat the process of obtaining IP number.

9. Open Internet Explorer and type the IP address / admin. The Login page is displayed.
10. Type the User name and Password (default password is admin) and click Ok. The HotEx
Billing Manager Main Interface page is displayed.

Testing Network connectivity
After the configuration of the hotspot server, the customers are recommended to test the following
network connections:
�� Check the connection between the Linux server and the Internet.
�� Check the connection between the LAN clients and the Linux Server.
To check the connection between the Linux server and the Internet
1. On the Main Interface page, select Miscellaneous and click WAN IP Setting hyperlink. The WAN IP Setting page is displayed.
2. Select Assign Static IP for WAN Interface option button and click Next. The WAN
Interface Static IP Settings page is displayed.

3. To set the WAN interface static IP, click Update. The Confirmation page is displayed.
4. To restart the server, click the Click here link. The command prompt is displayed.

To test the connection between the LAN clients and the Linux Server
1. On the Main Interface page, select Miscellaneous and click Internet Connectivity hyperlink.
The Test Internet Connectivity page is displayed.
2. To check the Internet connection, click Ping!. The Ping Output page is displayed.
