Four high school students who participated in the 64th annual “Legion Boys State” pre sente d rep or t s at t he Chanhassen American Legion earlier this month, announced Roger Roatch, Chanhassen American Legion commander, and Jim Schindler, Legion children and youth chairper-son.
The students, Alexander Loftus (Lakeville North), Brett Struthers (Holy Family), Spen-cer Tyson (Chanhassen High School), and Aaron Zimmer (Waterville), attended Boys State June 9-1 at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn.
Legion Boys State is a prac-tical learning experience in local and state government. Its participants apply knowl-edge already gained through their school experience and additional knowledge provided at Boys State to learn how to
operate their own city, county and state governments.
Scholars to Boys State must
have completed their junior year in high school and are selected for the program by
Legion officials, high school faculty and community resi-dents.
