Please ensure that you are reading a variety of different texts. Herne-Bay Library

is still offering a ‘click and collect’ service.

This week, we are continuing to use nonfiction books to discover facts about

different animals and their natural habitats.

Science

This week we are looking at Food Chains.

We will describe how animals obtain their food from plants and other

animals using the idea of a simple food chain.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z96r82p

Producers- Plants get their energy from the sun. They make their own

food, so they are called producers.

Consumers- Animals are called consumers because they eat plants and

other animals. They do not make their own food.

Predators- Animals that eat other animals are called predators.

Prey- Animals that predators eat are called prey.

For example- Grass is a producer that is consumed by a rabbit. The

rabbit is prey for the eagle. The eagle is a predator of the rabbit and

consumes (eats) the rabbit.

Attached to this document are pictures of plants and animals for you to

cut and create Food Chains.

Design and Technology (DT)

This week, we will create a 3D ‘habitat’ using different materials and

resources.

For example, how could we make a

nest? Birds are very skilful at weaving

flexible materials to create a nest.

What materials could you use to make a

model of a nest? How can you create a

shape that could hold and protect

eggs?

You may decide to create a

different habitat, for example,

the ocean. We would love to

see if you can make any parts

of your habitat move.

Writing

Habitats we have explored in detail have been- your immediate environment

(where you are), the Rainforests of Brazil and the South Pole.

There are many different types of animal habitat. Can you think of any? This link

shows you clips of animal habitats.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zx882hv/resources/1

This week, we will be writing a Fact File about an animal habitat. Day by day learning

details are on the English plan.

P.S.H.E

We will be looking at identifying and respecting the differences and

similarities between people.

Think about yourself and someone else that you know.

This could be someone in your household.

Draw a picture of them and you, side by side, and

write around these drawings all the different ways

that you are different. Consider- how they look or

sound. What do they like to eat, watch on television,

enjoy doing? Consider what the word RESPECT means. If someone likes something we

don’t or looks different to us, how should we respond? Does ‘respect’

mean ‘tolerate’?

Everyone is different but it is important to respect others for their

unique positive qualities and behaviour.

Maths

Log into Purple Mash. Complete the 2Do activity set, to practise your knowledge of 3D fractions.

This week we are recapping our knowledge of fractions. Day by day learning details are on our maths plan
