Christ was born. Christ has died. Christ has risen. In just over four months this is what we have celebrated together. It has been a time of joy and celebra-tion. Our journey continues with this as a foundation. On the second Sunday of Easter we will hear how Jesus met two people on the road to Emmaus. As Christians our lives are grounded in the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Even so, we do not stay at the manger. Nor do we stay at the cross and we do not stay at the empty tomb. Like the disciples we journey on and find Jesus on the road of our lives. What does that mean? What does that look like? Where do we see Jesus? How do we see hem? Where will we meet him? What words does he have for us? What is he calling us to do? These are just a few of the questions we can ponder as we continue to journey in our ministry together.
As part of that journey the two councils recently spent time together in reflection and wondering. During that time I asked them to answer two questions, “What would it be like if…”, and ”I’ve always wanted to…” for four different categories: Worship, Building Community, Ministry/Outreach and Study/Education. There was a lot of good energy and spirit flowing in and through your leaders. We will be reviewing the ideas they raised and looking for ways to implement them.
The purpose behind this is not to have more things happening in the life of Holden Parish, the churches or the members. The intent is to help us grow in our relationship to God and each other and in our service to God’s people. Continue to pray for the leaders of the congregations and parish. Continue to pray for the Risen Lord to be known in our lives and through our words and deeds.
Christ was born. Christ has died. Christ has risen and we will meet him as we go forth.
Blessings on our journey, Pastor Barb
A big thank you to all who helped with the mid-week and Holy Week services and our Easter Celebration. I am grateful for Roni’s hard work and her patience as I continually tweaked the services and bulletins. I am also grateful for Sue, the choir, praise band and Vicki for sharing their musical talents and their spirits! Our altar guild works hard to see that the worship space and our altars are prepared for worship. Thank you for your dedication! Another shout out to those who prepared for the Easter breakfast. One problem with notes of thanks is that you run the risk of forgetting someone. Thank you to all of you who work behind the scenes to assist the churches in this time of Lent and Easter.

MM SUNDAY SCHOOL
As our Sunday School year has come to a close I want to thank you for a wonderful Sunday School year!!
Special thanks to our awesome teachers, Judy Foster, Rose Fink and Christine Bleisner.
These ladies were here each and every Sunday, with lessons and class time fun prepared, whether their class had one child attending or eight.
That takes dedication and determination and the kids and I appreciate it so much, week after week.
I know that we are molding our children to be good Christians, by reading the bible, learning stories, relating church life as our everyday life, and doing good things for people in the World. Our theme for this year was Community Service.
We participated in a number of different projects and I am so proud of the kids for thinking of other people and helping out in so many different areas.
Our latest accomplishment was using our offering to purchase over $115.00 worth of food for the Waushara County food pantry! That’s pretty fantastic for our Mt. Morris Sunday School!
We also made tickets to hand out in the community. We would do a good deed for someone, then hand them the tick-et and tell them to do something nice for someone else. We were spreading God’s love with our neighbors through service.
Some of the kids baked cookies for the fire department, others wrote thank you cards to the EMS, some opened doors and offered smiles to strangers and one even helped a lady load the groceries into her car. I am so extremely proud of these kids and hope that they continue this project throughout their lives.
Thank you to the congregation for supporting our kids as they sang, participated in projects and for our end of the year party financial support. We truly have a special congregation and I am proud of our Sunday School kids and teachers this year. See you in class in the fall! Love, Kristen Jones
FOURTH SATURDAY COMMUNITY MEAL 4th Saturday Meal will be held on May 24th at St. Marks Catholic Church church, in Redgranite. Serving times are from 11:00- 1:00. This meal is for everyone – those in need of a meal and those wanting some fellowship and new friendship opportunities. There is no charge for the meal. A free-will offering basket will be set out for those who wish to contribute.
Deacons Ministry at Mt. Morris Holden The Mount Morris Holden church council is continuing with its reorganization of assignments to better fulfill its constitutional responsibilities. The council is elected by members of the congregation to have general oversight of the life and activities of the congregation, and in particular its worship life, to the end that everything be done in accordance with the Word of God and the faith and practice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. In addition to their general responsibilities as members of the council each deacon on the council now relates directly to a designated portion of the membership.
