HOTEL INTRODUCTION
Since the turn of the century Bonnington has refined the true meaning of British Hospitality. Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers is a landmark of heritage and style, providing a chic residential address to all who walk through her doors.
The Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers – Dubai, is a 5-star hotel with 208 luxurious rooms and suites all non-smoking, 272 deluxe serviced hotel apartments, 6 restaurants and bars, 4 conference suites, a Leisure Deck on the 11th floor with infinity pool, state of the art gym, pool bar, Jacuzzi, steam, sauna as well as hairdressing salons for ladies and gentlemen.
The Hotel is part of the Bonnington Group, a UK-based hospitality operator with over a century of experience.
Most recently, the Bonnington opened McGettigan’s Irish Pub at the Hotel. This Irish Gastro Pup and beergarden joins the other restaurants and bars at the hotel to provide even more facilities for guests and the local community.
DAILY HOT WATER DEMAND & ENERGY REQUIREMENT
Energy Requirement
Energy required = Mass x Specific Heat x Temperature Difference 3600
Q (kW) = m (Lit.) x Cp (kJ/kg ◦C) x ∆T (◦C) / 3600 = 12,500 x 4.19 x (60~20) / 3600= 581.94 kW
Total Electrical Energy required to heat 12,500 Litres/day is 581.94 kW/day
Daily Hot Water Demand 12,500 Litres/day @ 60 ◦C

DRAIN BACK TECHNOLOGY ADVANTAGES
Simple system design with solar pump.
Prevents heat loss in winter.
Prevents overheating in summer. No need for additional Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Intercooler and complicated controls to prevent overheating in summer.
Fluid used on the primary side protects the system for 20-25 years and prolongs the life of the collectors. Fluid doesn’t need to be replenished for 7 years.
Low running cost.
Low maintenance cost.
Comparison between Installed & Other Systems in Market
Sl. No
INSTALLED SYSTEM OTHER SYSTEM
1 Close circuit drain back system
- Complete control on temperature of hot water. The circulating pump switches off when desired temp is reached and the close circuit fluid drain back into the system preventing over heating.
- Since drain back principle is used no requirement of expansion vessels both on primary and secondary side
Fully flooded open circuit system
- Temperature in portable side controlled but on primary side since the water always remains in the collectors it will over heat. In summers the temperature in collectors may reach boiling point.
- Uses expansion vessel on both primary & secondary side to control expansion of water in primary circuit which is susceptible to failure.
2 Only close circuit anti corrosion fluid goes through the panels. Thereby preventing any corrosion & scaling – better life for the collectors.
Raw water is passing through the collectors increasing the possibility of corrosion and scaling in panels. Lesser life expectancy of the collectors.
3 Uses tank in tank type heat exchange system which doesn’t require any maintenance
Uses flat plate heat exchanger which requires maintenance on periodic basis
4 Uses 1 circulating pump between the collectors and the storage Uses 5 circulating pumps adding to maintenance costs
5 Simple in design with less electrical equipments Complicated design with lot of motorized valves failure of which will result in no hot water availability.
6 1 tank with solar storage + additional storage catering to the complete demand of the hotel apartments, space required would be 10 – 12 m²
Have smaller buffer tank & additional supply tank. approximate space required would be around 15 - 20 m²
7 Solahart is solar specialist company with more than 100 years of experience in manufacture of solar systems giving complete warranty from single manufacturer
Supplier may be a specialist but not necessarily a solar manufacturer.
