Help us choose... WOODSTOCKTown Center Plan

August 23, 2012

2. RESIDENTIAL MIXWhat kind of residential development is appropriate for these areas?

1. UNDEVELOPED AREASThese areas are still undeveloped. What uses and development patterns would you like to see here?

3. GATEWAYSAre these locations appropriate for gateways? If so, how should they look?

What types of uses would you like to see here?

PARKS ON MAIN STREETCreating a “green gateway” on Main Street south of Barnesdale Terrace will provide additional opportunities for recreation.

GREENWAY SYSTEMThe previously-completed Greenprints plan will be implemented with multi-use trails connecting neighborhoods, parks, schools, and downtown Woodstock, providing mobility options for a variety of modes of transportation.

BED AND BREAKFASTBed and breakfasts will dot Towne Lake Parkway from I-575 to Main Street, creating a charming entrance into downtown and providing a place for visitors who want the downtown experience.

FAMILY NEIGHBORHOODSWoodstock’s existing single family neighborhoods will remain, but future revitalization will create a more walkable, pedestrian-friendly environment, and a variety of housing types will be allowed in certain locations.

STREETSCAPESAll new streets, whether constructed by the City or with new private development, will have sidewalks and streetscapes (where appropriate) to shape a pedestrian-friendly environment.

CORRIDORSThe corridors in to town - Main Street and Towne Lake Parkway - should have clearly-defined edges and no sprawling commercial. Existing single-family homes, some with retail uses, are appropriate.

ON STREET PARKINGNew streets will be required to include on-street parking. On-street parking supports adjacent retail, adds to the existing parking supply, and contributes to a safe pedestrial realm.

TYPICAL STREET SECTIONThe typical section drawing above shows what a new street in Woodstock might look like. Dimensions will vary, but sidewalks, streetscapes, and on-street parking will be the norm. The result will be an enjoyable experience for both drivers and pedestrians.
