HEIFER INTERNATIONAL FALL 2009

Sixth Grade Service Project

What is Heifer International?

What do they do?

The Heifer Foundation raises money to purchase animals and supply trees to impoverished communities around the globe.

Heifer offers extensive training in animal care and earth-friendly farming practices, and teaches the many benefits that animals can provide for deserving families.

These are truly gifts that keep on giving. Receiving families spread the wealth by giving the offspring of their animals to other families in need.

This becomes a self-sustaining gift of knowledge; offering communities the opportunity to educate children and adults while providing a means of livelihood and instilling hope.

Heifer foundation donors learn about:

Global Awareness

Economics

Civic Duty

Principles of Understanding and Compassion

Funds will be raised by:

Producing a cookbook in the fall. All proceeds, after cost, will go toward the purchase of the selected animal, as well as a domestic, and local charity.

Students may also participate in The Taste of Lewis Palmer Middle School on Nov. 12th. Money raised will go towards our three charities. More details to follow about the Taste.
