HEAVY CRUDE
PROCESSING
REFINERIES
Proxions Heavy Crude Processing Refineries
(PMR-HV) are complete, modularized units ready
for installation and are designed to be fully
erected and operational within 4-8 weeks from
arrival at the prepared project site. All equipment
is fully warranted for 12 months and includes
process guarantee.
Based on a typical 20° API crude oil, the PMR-HC
will process the rated capacity and produce by
volume approximately 20% Naphtha, 25% Distil-
late, and 55% Residuum using Atmospheric dis-
tillation. The Naphtha and Diesel are then set to
storage while the Resid is further processed
using a Vacuum Distillation Unit (VDU).
Operating under Vaccuum allows for reduced
boiling points and further products can be yield-
ed. Standard products from the VDU are LVGO,
HVGO and VR.
Actual processing capacities, product percent-
ages and boiling points will vary depending on
the special characteristics of your crude. Upon
receipt of your crude composition.

Each PMR-HCP is custom
designed to satisfy the client
unique requirement. Although
we do standardize our systems
so that addons can be imple-
mented quickly, safely and cost
effectively.
Most of our units can be
operated with a minimum turn-
down of 40% of maximum
throughput.

STANDARD PMR- HCF PROCESS FLOW
Process Description
______________________________________________________________________
This PMR-HCP is designed to maximize the products slate from a heavy crude oil feed. The
PMR-HCP envisage the use of a crude distillation column and a vacuum distillation column to
separate the heavy crude into several side cuts, an overhead and bottom stream. The streams
from both the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and Vacuum Distillation Unit (VDU) will be cut
according to the boiling points pre-determined to meet the product specifications and standard.
The design of the process will be to operate at a continuous state to the capacity outlined in the
scope of supply for 330 days per year while processing the heavy crude oil described in the
assay provided. The plant will be modular and skid mounted, incorporating the listed process
equipment, piping, instrumentation and all electrical junction boxes located at the skid edge.
The PMR-HCP does not use steam for stripping, however steam stripping can be incorporated
into the PMR-HCP design as an add-on but will be subject to design consideration and approv-
al.
Heavy crude feedstock is delivered to the suction of the crude charge pumps (by Buyer’s pipe-
line) from the outside battery limits, at the required minimum flow and suction (NPSH) as re-
quired by the pumps. The crude oil charge pumps, then deliver the crude oil at required pres-
sure and flow to the CDU, where the process is split into an overhead, distillates side draws
and Atmospheric bottom. The Atmospheric bottom from crude distillation column is further
charged via an AR charge pump into the VDU at required pressure and flow, where the pro-
cess are further split into Light Vacuum Gasoil (LVGO), Heavy Vacuum Gasoil (HVGO) and
Vacuum Residue (VR).
The process in the PMR-HCP plant splits the crude feed into the following products.
— Naphtha
— Diesel
— LVGO
— HVGO
— VR
The process is set up such that the side draw products will have a wide range of properties
(within limits) depending on the intended use. Furthers side stream strippers maybe envisaged
for the CDU and VDU to remove the light ends from the products. The side stream strippers will
be envisaged based on specification and intended use.
Additional draw offs can be added if required.
