WHAT IS HEALTH?
• Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being.
What is an Illness?
• Illness is any situation in which your health is impaired.
When are you healthy and when are you ill???
• When your body isn’t functioning properly, you can solve it by being positive , then you are healthy.
• Occasionally, you can stop functioning properly, this keeps us from doing our daily activities. Then, you fall ILL.
Examples of illnesses and their causes….
• When you know the cause of your illness it helps us to prevent them and protect us from them, be healthy and get better faster.
• There are two types of illnesses:Infectious and Non-Infectious
Infectious illnesses • Infectious illnesses are caused by microscopic
organisms like fungi, bacteria or viruses . • Some illnesses like flu, chickenpox and measles
are contagious and can be spread by coughing, sneezing, sharing combined spaces etc…
Non- infectious illnesses• Non-
infectious illnesses can be caused by different factors:
• Poisoning- toxic substances or drugs are breathed in or ingested.• Accidents cause fractures, sprains or broken bones.• Poor eating habits can make you be overweight. Obesity can cause a heart
disease and blood pressure problems.• Abnormal cell growth can make you have cancer.• Fatigue and anxiety can cause sleeping disorders.
(This is a non infectious illness)
What are infectious and non-infectious illnesses caused by??
• Infectious illnesses are caused by microorganisms which may affect the body.
• Non-infectious illnesses are caused by different factors: accidents, lack of vitamins…
