The E-mailJamie,

I called you today (September 6th) asking about my financial aid. You said I did not complete the Entrance Counseling. I have attached a copy directly from the student loans website stating that I did in fact complete the Entrance Counseling. I have had a lot of trouble switching my financial aid from Some University to Any Community College. I have never had so many problems completing everything to get financial aid. I have asked many times if your office has received all of my information and every time there seems to be something else I need to fill out. I was never given all the information at one time. It has been quite a hassle. Please let me know if this is everything you need so that I can get my financial aid in as soon as possible.

thanks,Sandy

The ResponseSandy,

I’ve checked the website again and I do apologize, there is confirmation of your Entrance Counseling. In looking over your records several thing have come to my attention. Your first letter (4/21/2011) did indicate everything needed for your financial aid file and included directions for the Student Loan Process, if you wanted to pursue a student loan. When I received the confirmation on your Master Promissory Note on 08/16/2011, I sent you another letter stating what was still needed and added the Entrance Counseling as ‘not received’. My login to the student loan site confirms you completed the Entrance Counseling on 08/27/2011. Award eligibilities are looked at during award calculation, one of the processes which I am responsible for and calculated after the file is complete. One thing looked at are transcripts from other colleges attended, which brings us to your Some University transcript, which we received on 04/28/2011. Another item looked at is a student’s loan history. Having looked at your loan history, you received a total of $7500 for the 2010-2011 academic year at Some University, which indicates you attended both semesters, but your transcript on file only show a Fall semester for 2010, nothing for Spring. At this point a new transcript from Some University would be required, however you have a total loan debt of $17,482, which makes you ineligible for student loan at Any Community College. As you know, you are not Pell eligible, therefore you will not be able to receive financial aid at Any Community College. Again, I apologize if you feel as though this has been a difficult process, however I believe much of your frustration could have been avoided had you responded in a timely manner after receiving the first letter we sent in April.
