What is Belly dancing?

• It is the oldest form of dance• Gained popularity across the U. S. and

worldwide• Historically, it was performed only for other

women• Represents an intimate connection between

dancer, her expression, and mother earth

• Dannise Ruiz-Ramos is a graduate student at Penn State.

• Studied at the Center for Arts and Crafts for two years

• Great stress reliever. It’s so hard to think about anything else while you’re trying to follow the dance
