Summer Reading 2019 Trivia Night 2019
Join us for the Hanson
Public Library Foundation’s
annual Trivia Night on
Wednesday, July 31st at
Camp Kiwanee with host
Kevin Glennon from
Foolosopher Trivia. Enjoy
a delightfully fun night
answering brain-tickling
questions and mingling with friends! Doors open at 6:30 pm and
the trivia game begins at 7:30 pm. Proceeds from the evening will
provide enrichment programs at the Library. Further details and
the registration form are on the back page of this newsletter. Don’t
miss out on this fabulous night!
Family Skate Time
You and your family are
invited to a free Family
Skate Time at the Carousel
Family Fun Center in
Whitman on Thursday,
August 15th from 10:00 am
to 12:00 pm to celebrate the
Hanson Public Library and
its 2019 summer reading
program. This super cool roller skating party will feature free
skating, free skate rental and tons of fun for everyone! To register,
go to hansonlibrary.org and sign up under "Calendar of Events" or
call the library at 781-293-2151. This event is sponsored by the
Hanson Public Library Foundation.
The Hanson Public Library invites you to
participate in 1000 BOOKS BEFORE
KINDERGARTEN, an early literacy program
that challenges parents, grandparents, families,
and caregivers to read 1,000 books to their infant
or toddler before entering kindergarten.
To get started, register on our website or at the
library, and pick up a tote bag and reading logs.
Prizes are awarded for each 100 book milestone.
This program is made possible by the generous
donations made by family and friends in memory of
Tom Moore, who was a life-long library advocate,
avid reader, teacher, and promoter of literacy.
Reserve A Museum Pass This Summer
The Hanson Public Library is participating in the 2019 Statewide
Summer Reading Program, A Universe of Stories.
We have great programs to offer this year. Details about kickoff,

Mary (Gret) Lozeau - Memorial Gifts
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
The Hanson Public Library Foundation has been
honored to receive seventy-six donations from
individuals, families and organizations in memory
of Mary (Gret) Lozeau, a founding Library
Foundation Director and a longtime Trustee of
the Hanson Public Library. The generous gifts
and beautiful notes received are testaments to Gret, a caring,
dedicated, and giving person. The Library Director and the
Library Trustees are collaborating to responsibly allocate the
memorial gifts with a goal of funding materials and programs to
promote middle school literacy in honor of Gret. The Foundation
Directors extend a sincere thank you to those who made donations
in memory of Gret. These gifts will help keep Gret’s legacy
shining brightly at our Library and will make a difference in the
lives of middle school students.

Yoga Classes

Mobile-MiniGolf Did you know there are two golf balls on the Moon? We can’t offer golf on the Moon, but we’ve got the next best thing: minigolf in the Library! Come kick off Summer Reading 2019 by playing 9 holes and enjoying some space-related trivia. Registration required.

Teen Video Challenge
Tuesday, July 23 — 6:00-7:30 pm — Teens
Each participant will create a short video that shows their interpretation
of the 2019 Summer Reading slogan, “A Universe of Stories.” Videos
can then be submitted as part of the national Teen Video Challenge
with a chance to receive a cash prize and summer reading materials for

Yoga & Painting Workshop

Learn Ukulele

Julie Stepanek will teach you how to tune, strum, and read chords. No
experience necessary. Bring your own ukulele or borrow one of hers.

Space Club
Wednesdays 7/17, 7/24, 7/31, 8/7, 8/14 — 11:00 am — All ages
Come join us as we get our hands busy with painting, drawing,
sculpting, and more! Enjoy space-themed crafts/activities such as wet
chalk outer space art, pretend jet packs, galaxy play-doh, alien
spaceships, and play-doh aliens!
