Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.

The first one said, "Oh, my, it's getting late!

The second one said, "There are witches in the air!"

The third one said, "But I don't care!"

The fourth one said, "Let's run and run and run."

The fifth one said, "I'm ready for some fun!"

WOO-ooh! went the wind and out went the lights.

And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!

HalloweenCraft

Positive/Negative

Math

• 1 piece of black construction paper • 2 pieces of orange paper • Start  at the bottom and draw a

pumpkin with a stem.  Starting at the bottom, students cut out the pumpkin.  It has to be all in one piece to work!  They also need to save both parts.  There are no scraps to this project!!

• They glue one part at the top and line up the orange and black papers at the top, left corner.  Then I tell them to put the cut out right under where the hole is located.

Math

• A picture of a ghost using the same idea. It might be easier for young ones to do the ghost first. Ghosts can be any shape? You can also use larger paper.

Crayon Resist PumpkinCrayon Resist Pumpkin This project was made as a crayon

resist, scribble drawing first on a 9x12 white paper. Any design or scribble is okay! Then a blue, watercolor wash was done over the crayon. I think that kindergarten students might have trouble cutting the pumpkin shape out of the orange paper without cutting the edges. An adult could to do this part. Then the eyes, nose and mouth were cut out of black, construction paper and glued on.

This project was done This project was done with a pumpkin with a pumpkin

pattern. Students pattern. Students tore the orange tore the orange

construction paper construction paper into small pieces and into small pieces and

glued them on the glued them on the pumpkin. A green pumpkin. A green stem was attached.stem was attached.

Skeleton decoration.Skeleton decoration.• Head - pattern• Body - egg carton that was painted white• Hands and feet – hand or feet print using

white crayon on black construction paper.  Teacher cut around when dry.

• Arms and legs-    Two strips of white paper. I used adding machine tape to avoid having to cut long strips of butcher paper.   These were folded in what we call cat steps.  The two strips of paper are glued together at one end (perpendicular at 90 degree angle) and the strips folded over each other and the next strip on top of that.   Continue folding until the end of the strip.  Put one dot of glue on the end to hold it.

Plant Book This is a cute little book with a poem to teach how seeds grow into

plants. This can be done on half sheets or whole sheets of paper and bound into a book.

Page One:  I'll plant a little seed                    in the dark, dark ground. Each student illustrates the page with a seed in the ground. Page Two:  Out comes the yellow sun,

Big and round. Each student illustrates this page with a big yellow sun.Page Three:  Down comes the cool rain,

Soft and slow.Raindrops are drawn all over the page and glitter used to outline the

drops.Page Four:  Out comes the little plant,

Grow, grow, grow!Any kind of plant can be drawn or a pumpkin!  We encourage them to

draw the plant showing the roots, too.

Boo Game

“Spelling Banner” game: Prepare two banners that say whatever you want them to say, ie Happy Halloween, Trick or Treat, etc. Also prepare a set of letters for the same words cut out in two different colors hidden randomly around the room. Divide the class into 2 teams with two captains--the captains sit and wait for their teammates to bring the letters for their banner. If a student is on the "red" team and sees a letter for the "green" team he/she just leaves it alone. The first team to cover their banner letters wins. (TP: F: spelling).

Game:Who am I, Ghost? Blindfold one student. The other Ss stand in circle around the blindfolded student. Spin the student around and then stop him/her facing another student. S says "Whooooooo (like a ghost). Who am I?". The blindfolded S must guess who that student is and call out his/her name.

• A ghost at a haunted house.• A skeleton dancing in a cemetery.• A witch flying on a broomstick.• Spiders in a cobweb.• A mummy in a tomb.• Goblins around a hollow tree.• A headless horseman with a jack-o'-lantern.• An alien in a cornfield.• A scarecrow in a pumpkin patch.• A boy dressed as a pirate.• A girl dressed as a witch.• A clown carving a pumpkin.• Some kids trick-or-treating.• A black cat on the roof.• A bat on a grave.• A vampire in a coffin.• A werewolf howling at the moon.• A boy wearing a devil's mask.• Some kids at a Halloween party.
