HALLOWEEN ORIGINS

Halloween has ancient Celtic origins. It is related to a harvest festival. On the Celtic calendar Samhain was

the last day of summer. Samhain was the last day of year. Samhain was the 31st October.

HALLOWEEN ORIGINS Druids (the Celtic priests), practised

religious rituals and magic on Samhain.

They also predicted the future. On this day the Celts made big fires

and dressed in scary costumes.

HALLOWEEN ORIGINS

The Celts believed that ghosts came out their tombs on the night of 31st October.

They wanted to frighten the evil spirits dressing up as skeletons, ghosts or witches.

After the Roman invasion Samhain became into a harvest festival.

Some ancient rituals continue till now.

Halloween now is an exciting event in the United States and in Great Britain.

Every American Calendar has Halloween marked on it.

There are a lot of icons for this celebration.

People like to dress up in scary costumes.
