Columbus Day

Ceremony on Columbus Day

“Columbus Day”(October, 12th) has become a controversial celebration in the Untied States.

Christopher Columbus

• Considered as invader and colonizer

• Was hungry for gold, glory and fame

• Caused massacre, ex-ploitation and enslave-ment of the Native Indi-ans

The Less Limits, The BetterAccording to Howard Zinn’s who wrote A Peo-ple’s History of The United States, “The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you don’t listen to it you will never know what justice is” (10).

Who Was Victim?Zinn believes that“My point is not to grieve for the victims and denounce the executioners. Those tears, that anger, cast into the past, deplete our moral en-ergy for the present. And the lines are not al-ways clear. In the long run, the oppressor is also a victim. In the short run the victims, themselves desperate and tainted with the cul-ture that oppresses them, turn on other vic-tims”(10).

ConclusionAwareness of your situation and background is

necessary.

Process is as important as consequence.

Good process cause good Consequence, Good Consequence does not always cause good process.
