Jeremiah• Babylon, Syria, Assyria and Egypt wanted to control

Canaan so to assert themselves as a world power • Jeremiah to Israel don’t have alliance with powerful

nations but rather get right with God and trust him for protection from other nations

• Babylon was advancing and defeated Assyria and Egypt. Jeremiah under divine guidance, Israel should surrender to Babylon rather than risk total destruction

• This happened and the exile started in 586 or 608 BC

33 “This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

• Found to be Gods people in they place they didn’t want to be Babylon

• Taught them to prayer with depth to bring life changing lives

• Taught them to ponder gain revelation of the Scriptures Moses and the Prophets

• They lost everything but they found God • They were delivered from idolatry and started the practice

of worshipping in synagogue • They became merchant businessmen rather than farmers • With the promise of a new covenant came the promise of a

new heart and new covenant relationship
