Grundtvig’s ideas in the worldAWE has members in many countries, such as: Brazil, Argentina and North America Russia, Ukraine, Belgium, Denmark India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Japan Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania EgyptCentral Asia

Activities

The leaders of AWE from all parts of the world gather once every third year for our International council meeting.

Last time was in 2013 In Bisserup in Denmark.

Activities Denmark-Russia

AWE Denmark, together with our Russian coordinator, arranges exchange of teachers and students and study tours between Denmark and Russia.

AWE in North and South America Awe in North and

South America works to improve life and living conditions for marginalised groups – very often of Indian origin – through educational programs combined with sustainable tourist activities.

AWE in the PhilippinesAwe in the Philippines works with empowerment of landless workers through non-formal education programs.

AWE in South India

AWE in South India runs a school community and a Folk High School for tribal people. They also arrange educational programmes for adults.

AWE North India

AWE North India works with woman self help groups.

They support income generating activities and women empowerment.

They also defeat domestic violence

AWE DenmarkAWE Denmark coordinates exchange of teachers and students.

We arrange study tours and education activities about education in Denmark for members around the world.

We also organize information programs in Danish Schools, so Danish students can learn more about the world.

AWE DenmarkSince Rosa and Boy are experts in Forum Theatre, we used their visit to arrange a Forum Theatre in Odense.

The actors in the play were refugees in Denmark together with and Folk High School students

World EducationIt is difficult to explain what World Education is.

Therefore I have chosen to give some examples.

But we are working on some basic common principles.

Mission

Association for World Education’s (AWE) mission is to maintain and create networks of educators and organizations from around the globe.

AWE members work with inspiration from the Nordic Folk High School Movement to influence and improve social and ecological conditions at local, regional, national and global levels.

Organizational Background

• AWE was founded in 1974 • AWE was granted consultative status with

the ECOSOC and UNESCO in 1978 • The Global Secretariat of AWE is located in

Denmark • There are seven members that represent

AWE in the UN in New York, Geneva and Vienna.

• All international members meet once every third year.
