Root WordsMany of the words we use today came from Greek or Latin words used in the past.

A root is the basic element of a word.

Most roots need to be combined with other elements in order to be a complete word.Remember: the roots, in most

cases, are NOT words. They are PARTS of words.

Being able to identify roots within words can help build your comprehension when you read.

Each week (MONDAY), you will be given six new roots to memorize. You will also have various homework assignments to help you memorize the roots.

Every Friday, you will have a Greek/Latin Roots quiz

You will have Unit Exams on every 18 roots you learn

You will have a midterm on the root words at the half-way mark

You will have a final exam on ALL the root words at the end of the year
