Next Meeting June 1 at Roosevelt Grove in North Park
See Map and Directions on Page 7
Board Meeting 7:00 PM; General Meeting 7:30 PM
25 years 1986 2011
Greetings Pony Lovers –
Car season is now upon us - but you’d never know
it with all the rain we’ve had. As I write, the Poker
Run on May 22nd
is only a few days away. Jennie
& I have yet to drive either of our classic cars
because it’s been so wet. But the Poker Run will be
held, rain or shine. So if it’s sunny - bring your
Mustang; if it rains - bring your daily driver.
Opening night at Starlite is just five days later on
May 27th
. Starlite always has a huge turnout on
opening night (unless it rains, of course) and the
folks at Northway Christian Community have some
surprises lined up this season. The next day (May
28th
) is the Camaro/Mustang shootout at the
Flashlight Drags at BeaveRun. You don’t have to
race your car to enjoy this event. Spectator
admission is only $5 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
Ed tells me that preparations for our All Ford-
Powered Show are proceeding nicely. June 12th
is
only three weeks after the Poker Run. Don’t forget:
MEMBERS NEED TO REGISTER FOR THIS
EVENT TO RECEIVE A GOODY BAG AND
HAVE THEIR CAR JUDGED IN CLASS M.
Please make it easier on Mary Hutton and register
well in advance.
Can-Am registrations are continuing. Don’t forget,
YOU HAVE TO REGISTER TO PARTICIPATE.
We’ve already passed the May 21st cutoff, so now
your $30/person registration includes the river boat
cruise, Saturday night dinner, a commemorative
jacket patch and a dash plaque for each car. The
FINAL REGISTRATION CUTOFF is June 13th
, so
register now and avoid the last minute rush!
Don’t forget, our June 1st meeting will be held
outdoors at Roosevelt Grove in North Park. For
those of you who’ve never been there, a map and
directions are available on our website at:
http://www.gpmc.org/resources/images/pdf/2011/Di
rectionstoNorthParkMtg.pdf. Or go to our Calendar
page, click “View” for the “Directions to June 1st
Meeting” event, and then click on the “Flier” link
under More Information. Roosevelt Grove is
located directly across from St. Paul’s EV Lutheran
Church of North Park, 10301 Walter Rd., 15101.
I hope to see you all on June 1st.
Keep those motors runnin’,
Ken

Minutes of May 4, 2011 Combined Board and General Meeting
The combined meeting was called to order by Ken Barker, President, at King’s in Harmarville. The sign-in sheet was passed around, and the 50/50 raffle tickets were sold by Jack Farthing.
New Members/Guests: Mike Pietronigro
Minutes: There were no additions or corrections to the April 6, 2011 minutes. It was moved by Jeff Bilka and seconded by Carl Cramer to accept the minutes. Motion carried.
Correspondence/Illness: Ken reported we received a thank you note from the Cipas on the passing of Kevin’s mother. Also, Jacquie Uhler is home following her recent hospitalization.
Treasurer’s Report: Jason absent. No report.
Membership: Mary reported renewal payments were closed on March 31. She e-mailed the directory to everyone and, if there are any changes, to send them to her. The directory will be updated quarterly. If anyone has not received their membership card, let her know.
Newsletter: Jennie reported that articles are due the 15th of the month. She received a lot of vanity plate photos. She still needs stories and pictures of members’ cars.
Merchandise: Reporting for Andy, Ed stated that Andy’s brother lives in Alabama and the residents in the area are in need of clothes due to recent tornado damage. They donated the club's excess inventory of children's T-shirts to meet this need. Clean, slightly worn prom dresses are also needed.
Webmaster: Ken reported that the events and bowling pictures are on our Facebook.
TRCCC: Ken mentioned that flyers on the CanAm and Poker Run were sent to them.
MCA: Ed stated that the MCA held its Board Meeting on April 30 and discussed two Bylaws changes. No.1 concerns MCA Regional Clubs—Meeting Location, and # 2 relates to Reporting Membership Information to National Club. Refer to Addendum to Minutes.
Activities: Dwight discussed the BowlFest. There were 17 bowlers and 1 observer. Mike DeLeonibus was the winner. The BeaveRun Mustang vs. Camaro Shootout is scheduled for May 28 and Jeff Bilka mentioned that members don’t have to race.
The Poker Run (benefitting St. Barnabas's Pennies for Patients) is Sunday, May 22. Cards are picked up at each stop and the winner will be determined at the final stop, La Casa Narcisi Winery. If a member is just going to the winery, the cards can be picked up there. Carl and his son Doug volunteered to help parking cars.
Upcoming Events: Events are listed in the newsletter. Regarding the All Ford-Powered Car Show, Ed stated that the Pony Points awards for basket raffle donations will be lowered this year to be more in line with points awarded for other events like Can-Am plan-ning. Goodie bag preparation will be done the Friday before the show at Shults. The Best of Show will be picked first and Richard Bazzy will make the dealer’s choice for the Mustang and Ford. Member registration must be done before the show, not the day of the show, and GPMC members must register under the K designation.
Regarding CanAm, per Ken four GPMC couples will be staying at the host hotel and team tour leaders are needed. Mahoning Valley made a DVD of their event and a YouTube link appears in the newsletter. If anyone from the club has this skill and would like to video-tape ours, he would welcome it. The following have volunteered as tour guides – Lanes, Huttons, Reisz/Graef, Rossmanns and the Bilkas. Mark will help with banquet setup/teardown, and Carl will help at the Hospitality Suite. Ken added that the Niagara Classic Mustang Club sent him a write-up describing the early history of the Cam/Am (1994-1999) when it was between NCMC and LEMOC, who started it. It will be published in the next newsletter.
Mary reported that 21 cars/42 people have signed up so far (10 cars are members). Members of one club have yet to sign up.
Old Business: None.
New Business: Jeff Bilka reported on a charity raffle sponsored by Tom Henry for the North Hills Community Outreach. Tickets are available for $5/ea, three for $10.
The 50/50 was won by Mike DeLeonibus.
Next meeting: June 1, 2011 at Roosevelt Grove, North Park.
Adjournment: Motion to adjourn was made by Dwight Hutton and seconded by Mark Morrow. Motion carried.

IT'S SPRING....THINK BASKETS!
Please note that the following is entirely an optional activity.
It's time once again to plan for the Basket Raffle for the GPMC All Ford-Powered Show on June 12th. Cheryl Bakaj, Basket Raffle chair, asks that each member family consider donating either a basket of items, or individual items to be raffled. It doesn't have to be expensive or extravagant! You may even have some new/unused items that you would like to re-gift. Suggestions for themes include: kid's stuff, car care items, personal care items, black & gold party, etc. Pony Points will be given for your basket or items. Just let Cheryl know what you've got at: cherylb103@verizon.net.
