GLOSSARY
• BB = Bed and Breakfast
• FB= Bed, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Game Safaris
Please Note: The new safari regulation being implemented by the park authorities has made it mandatory for all
registered safari vehicles of the park, whether privately owned or belonging to the lodges, be allocated to visitors
on a rostered basis. Thus, vehicles from our lodge cannot be any longer guaranteed for safaris but a vehicle from
the day’s roster from the common pool for vehicles will be used for the activity. This change is being challenged
in the courts but as of yet there is no conclusion on the lawsuit yet.

New Delhi, the capital of India is a modern buzzing metropolitan city
with remnants of the past strewn amongst the modern buildings. Much
of New Delhi was planned by Sir Edwin Lutyen’s, who laid out a
grandiose central administrative area as a testament to British imperial
pretensions.
Delhi was established between 900 B.C and 1930. Delhi's famous "seven
cities" range from the 12th century Quila Rai Pithora, built by Prithviraj
Chauhan, to the imperial Shahjahanabad, constructed by the Mughals
in the 17th century.
Of the many attractions in Delhi, the major sites are the Rashtrapati
Bhawan designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens as the British Viceroys Palace,
Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi) where the Red Fort is, or Jama Masjid in the
famed Chandni Chowk in the heart of Old Delhi.
The Oberoi: Located in New Delhi, India’s capital city, The Oberoi New
Delhi reflects the city’s spirit in a harmonious blend of tradition and
contemporary sophistication. Located close to the city centre near
business, commercial and shopping districts, the luxury hotel overlooks
Delhi’s prestigious Golf Club on one side and the heritage site of
Humayun’s Tomb on the other. Exquisite interiors, impeccable service
and fine cuisine combine to make this the Capital’s most graceful and
elegant hotel. The award-winning hotel is ideal for business travel or
holidays to explore the cultural wonders of Delhi.

Agra: The city of Agra flourished under the patronage of the emperors
Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan and attracted artisans from Persia and

Oberoi Amarvilas stands unmatched in its grandeur and style. Being only
600 metres away from the Taj Mahal, every single room in this property
looks toward the monument.
Once you have settled in, you will embark on a guided tour of the
Itmaud-ud-daula and the Taj Mahal; to view it by Sunset.
Itmaud-ud-daula: The Tomb represents a transition in monumental
Mughal architecture between the construction from red sandstone with
marble decorations, to those of white marble decorated with pietra
dura inlay. The walls of the Tomb are of white and coloured marble
encrusted with semi-precious stone decorations. These take the form
of cypress trees, wine bottles, fruit or vases containing bouquets. Light
enters the building through screens intricately carved from white
marble.
Taj Mahal: Said to be one of the most elegant and a harmonious building
in the world, Taj Mahal is the manifestation of the wealth and luxury
of Mughal art as seen in its architecture, garden design, painting, and
calligraphy.

the Ranthambhore National Park boasts a spectacular landscape filled
with boulder-strewn highland plateaus, lakes and rivers - dotted with
old forts and abandoned mosques - creating a wonderful atmosphere
for both bird and mammal viewing. Ranthambhore is perhaps most
famous for being one of the original 'Project Tiger' reserves and it still
affords one of the best opportunities anywhere in India of seeing a
tiger. At the centre of the park lay the ruins of the 10th to 16th century
Ranthambhore Fort which dominates the leafy forests from its perch
atop a dramatic rocky outcrop.

Hawa Mahal is the pink sandstone façade of a palace built for the ladies of
the harem by Sawai Pratap Singh. The façade contains 953 small casements
under a huge curve, each with a balcony and crowning arch. The windows
enable cool air (Hawa) to circulate and the zenana to watch processions
below without being seen.
City Palace: A wonderful combination of Mughal and Rajput forms of
architecture, it is now partly a museum housing miniature paintings,
manuscripts, Mughal and Jaipur carpets, musical instruments, royal
costumes and weapons, giving invaluable insight into Jaipur's royal
past.

Observatory Tower or the Jantar Mantar was built between 1728 and
1734 and it houses precise instruments for measuring “the harmony of
heavens”. Each instrument serves a particular function and gives an
accurate reading.
After your interpretive adventure, you will have the opportunity of
embarking on a walking tour of the market in the old city. Visit the
Maniharon ka rasta (bangle makers lane), then walk to the Thada
market (wholesale area), followed by a tour of the wedding market.
Afterwards, cross through the flower market and pass by a few temples
on the way, along with many small stalls.
Day 9 – Jaipur
Breakfast is at the hotel.
You will embark on a guided tour of amer fort and anokhi museum.
Amer Fort: It was once the ancient citadel of the ruling Kachhawa clan,
before the capital was shifted to present day Jaipur. Amer Fort is known
for its unique artistic style, blending both Hindu and Muslim (Mughal)
elements, and its ornate and breath-taking artistic mastery.
Anokhi Museum: The museum is located in a wonderfully restored haveli
within walking distance of the Amer Fort, and exhibits an active
acquisition program with a varietal of block printed textiles, alongside
animated images, time honoured photographs, antiquated wood and
brass tools, and related craft-like objects that provide a window into
the lives of an ancient people. The art of block textile printing can be
traced back centuries, easily considered to be the slowest and oldest
form of textile printing, and was practiced across the East by imprinting
various patterns onto textiles, by means of chiselled wooden blocks.
Today, India is one of the largest producers and exporters of block
printed fabrics in the world. The museum also houses contemporary

textiles works, featuring pioneering designs fashioned by talented

Explore the dense jungles of Kanha National Park on early morning and
afternoon park drives in an open safari vehicle. An experienced
naturalist will accompany you, explaining and pointing out interesting
flora and fauna.
One of the joys of exploring this park is the range of habitats each with
their own characteristics. There are large expanses of mixed deciduous
forest with stretches of tall sal (Shorea robusta) trees with breaks of
bamboo. Riverine patches are dissected by streams of gin-clear water
which make for perfect cooling spots for the animals. Kanha is famous
for its vast meadows or ‘maidans’, many of which were previously
‘forest villages’. These fields are excellent habitat for large herds of
spotted deer and Swamp deer that are preyed on by packs of wild dogs
or ‘dhole’, as well as tiger and leopard. All of these are interconnected
by an excellent network of forest tracks and dirt roads.
