An ambitious project modeled on 'competency based education', with a vision to gain skills required
to become a 21st century global manager.
Self-designed curriculum to fulfill current/future requirements of the business world.
Studied online courses from different universities available freely on MOOC, OCW platforms.
Study supplemented through other open educational resources, publicly available materials. (newspapers, companies annual reports, international institutions updates etc).
Knowledge gained has been tested in many real-life projects to develop market ready skills.
Self-study of 3 foreign languages, study of many different cultures to develop intercultural competence; and expansion of professional network in over 100 countries.
2 years of continuous work(May 2012-June 2014), based in the hometown in India.

'Global Manager of the 21st century', a new concept, can be helpful to prepare a new generation of workforce to tackle future challenges.
Increasing awareness will make other youngsters aware of this 'self designed project'.
'Competency based learning' can help to reduce the ever-growing shortage of a skilled workforce.
The project can be helpful for reducing deficiency in higher education systems in line with United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
The Project offered a glimpse into the future of higher education. (studying at home, designing own curriculum, courses from different universities)
'Zero Cost MBA' concept can be helpful in resolving educational debt problems in some countries.
Last but not least, every good idea like 'Zero Cost MBA' deserved to be known by the people.

Steps in Global Marketing Project
Built the website from base including planning the layout, programming the web pages.
The website describe activities undertaken to develop different soft skills. (Public speaking engagements, leading multi-cultural teams, country respresentatives etc)
Added different write-ups on the 'Zero Cost MBA' project.
It took 2 months to complete. The website went live on 5th September, 2014.
A personalized space for others to get first hand information.
The website attracted visitors from more than 155 countries.

A database of OER(Open Educational Resources) related activities has been created.
Organizations helped in the Zero Cost MBA project (curriculum design, online courses, publicly available material, volunteering projects etc) were listed to be acknowledge through thanking notes.
Information related to organizations working in the field of education has been investigated.
Business magazines and journalists were listed through an extensive research.
Individual persons involved in the field of education were identified and contact details were listed from social media and other places.
Different countries, cultural perceptions and trends in MOOCs related to the particular region have been briefly studied. They were cross checked for the involvement of country with e-learning. This data proved valuable in the Global Translation Project.
Subscription of newsletters about major events(including educational conferences) related to MOOCs to get latest updates.
Market Research
Notes of thanks were written to university professors, organizations, and individuals. (The list also included organizations supporting online education efforts)
Different leads were generated through social media to approach educational researchers for improvements for future offerings of online courses.
Journalists and educational establishments have been approached to share project story with others.
Mixed modes of communication (social media + e-mail + Skype/Google Hangout + in-person meeting + conversation over phone) have been used.
Project Management methodology has been adapted for maintaining a good overview of the entire project.
Challenges related to cultural and time-zone differences created some difficulties, while communicating with people in different parts of the world.
Project Progress
Unwillingness by a majority of people in accepting a new idea.- Benefits to society convinced many in taking this forward to others. - Investment by governments of different countries into online education helped in reducing
negative perception. - Situation improved through the passage of this project, with more people accepting MOOCs. Difficulties in finding contact information - Alumni networks, classmates, and social media was extensively used to generate leads. Cultural barrier caused challenges in communications. - Long negotiations with some individuals. - Exercised lot of patience when waiting for e-mails, follow-ups, and sharing of the work.
Overcoming the Challenges
Global Translation- 2 page summary has been translated into 95+ major languages of the world.- Aimed at increasing awareness about the project to non-English speaking population. - Approached people in more than 100 countries for voluntarily translation support.- Project will be accessible to more than 50% of the world's population. - Expected release: March, 2016
Book: Zero Cost Practical MBA- Self designed competency based educational path converted into a book. - Answers on designing own curriculums, gaining knowledge through easily available resources. - Suggestions on identifying the market trends and development of necessary soft skills. - A "Self Help" book with special emphasis on practicing knowledge in real situations. - Expected publication: In 2016

An unique project done by an individual received appreciation from different parts of the world.
Over 1500 e-mails written, 3000 tweets sent, and 2000 different individuals were approached for 'Global Marketing' project.
Labeled as 'One Man's Vision: Higher Education Vision' by a website, this self-designed educational project was mentioned and introduced in educational magazines, mainstream media, and during conferences.
Blogs, articles, and interview series allowed other people to experience this new way of gaining education.
Publications and translations will cover a large portion of the world’s population with a positive message about a new form of gaining education.
Created positive impact on the minds of many people and upcoming works (book, translation, publication) will continue to generate interest and inspire other people for years to come.
The project also served as a capstone project for using skills on the Global Level.
