Introduction to the UltranetOverview of Ultranet Release 1 functionality

for students and teachers

The Ultranet is a student centered electronic learning environment that supports high quality learning and teaching, connects students, teachers and parents and enables efficient knowledge transfer.

It will establish a schools environment for the future that improves the educational outcomes of all Victorians.

The Ultranet will be delivered to all Victorian government schools by the end of Term 3, 2010.

MEDIUM TERM GOALS

All students login by the end of Term 3 / early Term 4

Staff achieve Ultranet Goals for PDP Recommended minimum is:

1. Term 3 and Term 4 staff engage in professional dialogue and collaboration through the Ultranet Design space

2. End of Term 1 2011, staff create and use an Ultranet Collaborative Learning space with at least one group/class

LONG TERM GOALS 2011-2013

Term 4/early 2011 – Release 2 Implementation of Learning Tasks and Learner Profiles

Student Ultranet Portfolios developed, enhanced and maintained

Learning Tasks space loaded with unit overviews and lesson plans

Regular use of Design and Collaborative spaces

Functionality Overview

User can choose a number of ‘portlet’ applications including:

• Blogs, wikis and polls

• Calendars and image galleries

• Bookmarks and reference libraries

• Google Maps and RSS feeds

• Learning Contacts (for teachers only) and Portfolio Viewers (for students and teachers)

• Notices / Notice Viewer (appears by default)
