The Growing Opportunity (GO) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program is a seven-week training program that prepares City
residents for a career as a CNA. The program, entirely free for eligible participants, is a partnership among the City’s Office of
Economic Development and Piedmont Virginia Community College to offer seven weeks of training that will equip participants
with workplace and career readiness skills, as well as a CNA certification. After successful completion of this program, participants
will have the opportunity to apply for and be considered for employment with area employers. Once hired, participants will
receive additional on-the-job training.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
GO CNA training will begin on March 2, 2016, and class times will be
from 9:00am to 1:00pm, Monday through Friday, with the exception of
clinical days. Clinicals will be from 7:00am to 3:30pm on March 31, April
1, April 7, April 8, April 14, and April 15 (make-up). The training will
include the following:
CNA training-82 hours classroom and 40 hours clinicals
Customer service training and workplace readiness-32 hours
Financial literacy-2 hours
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Once you have reviewed the program require-
ments and the CNA job description, and you feel
that you meet all of the eligibility requirements,
please initial beside each criteria and complete
the attached application.
GO CNA Requirements
___ I am a resident of the City of Charlottesville.
___ I am least 18 years of age.
___ I have a GED or High School Diploma.
___ I am willing to submit to drug screenings.
___ I am willing to submit to a criminal history
background check.
___ I am eligible for hire as a CNA.

As a CNA , you will be responsible for the following:
Helping patients bathe, dress, and get out of bed
Turn or reposition bedridden patients
Take patients' temperature, blood pressure and other vital signs
Answer patient calls and document patients' health issues and re-
port to nurses
Feed patient, measure and record food and liquid intake
Clean rooms and bed linens
Help with medical procedures and dress wounds
