Indie pop or twee pop(USA) is a type of alternative rock
music.
It originated in the United Kingdom in the mid 1980s.
Unlike Indie rock, Indie pop is more easy on the ear, not asnoisy,
and fairly angst-free.
Indie meaning an independently owned business, while pop means
popular. Indie pop is popular independent music.
3. Birth of indie pop
The birth can be linked with the post-punk explosion in small
shop-based record labels.
Glasgow's Postcard Records and London's Rough Trade Records, were
examples of these.

5. Key Bands- The Smiths
A English band, formed in Manchester in 1982.
Band based on writing partnership of Morrissey (vocals) and Johnny
Marr (guitar), the band also included Andy Rourke (bass) and Mike
Joyce (drums).
Critics called them the most important alternative rock band to
emerge from the British independent music scene of the 1980s.
The band broke up in 1987 and have turned down several offers to
reunite since then.

6. Key Bands- Heavenly
Heavenly were a 1990s indie pop band, originally forming in Oxford,
England in 1989. Amelia Fletcher (vocals/guitar), Mathew Fletcher
(drums; Amelia's brother), Peter Momtchiloff (guitar) and Robert
Pursey (bass) had all been members of Talulah Gosh.
