Reverse Pitch

Five international investors took the stage to present their fund and investment process to the audience. After the investor pitches, the 5 selected Swiss FinTech startups pitched their innovative solutions to the audience.

“The event generated many opportunities to connect with the startups and the investors. Within the current environment where we have many FinTech events and pitching opportunities, it is refreshing to see some twist and a new format. Many thanks. I enjoyed it very much.” - Reverse Pitch Participant

Startup Weekend Zurich

The Swiss Finance + Technology Association supported this year’s Startup Weekend. The three-day marathon provided space for co-creation, product inception and growth hacking. The 75 participants attending the event had the chance to get advice from financial experts, software developers and open source innovators.

The event finished on Sunday with the final pitches in front of a panel of experts. Luke Szkudlarek, board member of the Swiss Finance + Technology Association, was among the jury members and supported with his expertise in digital marketing and software development.

Regulatory Advisory Group

The Regulatory Advisory Group is a body that provides non-binding strategic advice to governmental bodies and other appropriate stakeholders. We do not represent commercial interests of members or their employers.

The Swiss Finance + Technology Association engages with relevant authorities to help update the regulatory environment in Switzerland with a view to removing barriers to Switzerland becoming a globally competitive venue for all compliant fintech activities.

Key highlights:

● The Swiss Finance + Technology Association responded to the public consultation for FINMA’s Circular on video and online identification.

● SFTA responded to the public consultation procedure for FINMA’s partial revision of Circular 2011/1 “Finanzintermediation nach GwG”, noting in particular that FINMA’s approach to regulate entities domiciled in Switzerland rather than entities serving Swiss domiciled Swiss clients puts Swiss entities at a comparative disadvantage relative to their peers domiciled abroad.

● SFTA participated in a non-public pre-consultation initiated by the Swiss Federal Department of Finance, suggesting that regulation increasingly take into account its impact on the competitiveness of Switzerland in an intense global competition.

SIBOSIn 2016 we brought 24 Swiss FinTechs to Sibos, annual banking and financial conference organized by SWIFT, thanks to the collaboration with Innotribe, State of Geneva and ALP ICT. The Swiss fintech corner was a great opportunity to present the relevance of the Swiss technology and we are determined to make it a great platform for the future international expansion of Swiss-based startups.

Going GlobalThis initiative includes a closer collaboration with international FinTech Hubs. We want Swiss companies to leverage our international network outside of Switzerland to bring FinTech made in Switzerland to a global level.
