Fall Classic Golf Tournament Raises Over $53,000 On Friday, November 12, 2014 the
Geary Community Healthcare Founda-
tion hosted its 15th annual Fall Classic
Golf Tournament. Although it was a
rainy and unseasonably chilly day at
Rolling Meadows Golf Course, 144
golfers helped raise over 53,000 dollars
which is being utilized to aid local sexu-
al assault victims.
Previously, victims of sexual assault in
Geary County would need to be trans-
ported to a neighboring county for treat-
ment. However, with the proceeds of the
2014 Fall Classic, victims will be able
to receive local care via the new Sexual
Assault Response Team (SART) and the
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners
(SANE) at the Geary Community Hos-
pital. Having a local program will not
only help victims. This will also assist
law enforcement officers in the timeli-
ness and effectiveness of investigations.
The winning team members, David
Craft, DDS, Andrew King, Miles Chris-
tensen, and Jeff Roether are pictured to
the right.

Delivering Change: Update
Delivering Change is a community wide, multidisciplinary collaborative that aims
to improve the health of mothers and babies in Geary County.
In September the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) was
awarded a 5 year, $3.5 million dollar grant to expand Delivering Change:
Healthy Moms-Healthy Babies in Geary County.
What does this grant mean for Geary County?
The Healthy Start Grant will expand existing Delivering Change programs and
integrate new services. Delivering Change will continue to focus on: in-
creased access to healthcare, prenatal education, breastfeeding, interconcep-
tion care, safe sleep for infants, and family/social support.
New and exciting projects coming to Geary County due to this grant funding include a smoking cessation
program, the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) initiative through the Parents as Teachers pro-
gram, and a fatherhood initiative program. The addition of an OB Navigator, Shirley Robinson, for-
mer K-State intern with Delivering Change, is another exciting extension of the already successful
prenatal care model in Geary County. This role, the first of its kind in Kansas, will serve to help navi-
gate women into and through healthcare, to link them to helpful services in our community, and to
follow through post-delivery to assist with continued support and resource referral.
Holiday Tree of Memories Home Health and Hospice Care along with Geary
Community Healthcare Foundation will be holding
their annual Holiday Tree of Memories ceremony on
Thursday, December 4th at 5:00 PM. The ceremony
will take place in the Tribute Garden located be-
tween Medical Arts Building I and Medical Arts
Building II at Geary Community Hospital.
A brief candlelight ceremony of remembrance, mu-
sic, and prayer will be held in the Tribute Garden
between the two Medical Arts Buildings at the hospi-
tal. Families and friends have submitted names of
deceased loved ones that will be read as part of the
ceremony. Refreshments will immediately follow
the ceremony in the Conference Room of Medical
Arts II
Commemorative ornaments will be given to those
making a donation. Donations are voluntary and
NOT necessary for a name to be read. Additional
ornaments may be ordered for $7.50 each..
If you would like to add a name to be read during the
ceremony or for more information please contact the
Healthcare Foundation office at 785-238-3787.
