Welcome to November
GISBORNE
DARC N E W S L E T T E R N O V E M B E R 2 0 1 2 G D A R C
Welcome all current and new GDARC members
to the 2012/2013 season. I hope everyone is
enjoying the sunshine we've been receiving
over the last few weeks. I know my horses are
pleased to have shed their winter rugs (and
coats).
For those who couldn’t attend I hear the AGM
at Holgates in Woodend was a great night
with several new faces being elected to
Committee and associated positions such as
myself as the new Newsletter Editor. If anyone
wishes to contact the committee, relevant
contact details alongside positions is listed to
the left and can also be found on the club
website http://www.gisbornedarc.com.au/
contacts.html
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each
and every member who assisted with
committee and various other positions during
last season, your time and enthusiasm towards
the club is most appreciated.
We are nearing the silly season so here are the
Christmas GDARC events to mark on the
Calendar.
On the local front we have the GDARC Christmas
activities booked for the first two Saturdays in
December.
Saturday 1st December– The Kyenton Christmas
Party Race Day . The day is open to friends and
family and its $25 per person for the marquee
hire. Just bring a plate to share with everyone.
No BYO drinks allowed as there are bars in the
marquee area. There is an additional $15 for
entry/race card per person payable on the day
and here’s the link to the website http://
www.countryracing.com.au/events/product/
events/id_event/1452/ Please note the deadline
to book for Kyneton Race Day was 2 November
2012.
Saturday the 8th of December—Mount Macedon
Trail Ride and Family BBQ Day.
Meeting at the top of Mount Macedon (Days Picnic
Ground) in the morning at 9.30am. Please RSVP to
Lucy if you would like to ride so that groups of
similar ability are put together in advance. There
are BBQs and picnic tables plus plenty of grassy
space and float parking so we can enjoy a
relaxing BYO BBQ afterwards. Friends and family
welcome.
Here’s the link to some info and maps. The float
park is opposite Days Picnic Ground on Lions Head
Road http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/

NEWSFLASH
GDARC
SHOWJUMP DAY UPDATE
This has been

Rider Profile - Jenny McMillan (Gus & Leila)
1. How long have you been a member
of Gisborne DARC? Since 2006
2. How long have you been riding? How did you get started? My Mum and Dad both rode, mainly working stock on their parents' farms, so I was sitting on horses from a very young age. Dad played Polocrosse in the 50's.
3. What are your biggest riding achievements? Dabbling in a variety of equestrian activities - eventing, showjumping, campdrafting, novelties, etc, and developing a lovely relationship with my horses. 4. What are you goals for the next 12 months and further? To continue having a really nice relationship with my "mates', and to have us all compete confidently and happily. I want to give Gus a bit of a break and put more work into Leila now.
5. When you’re not riding your horse, what can you be found doing? (e.g. day job, other hobbies you enjoy) I have been a Primary Teacher, specialising in Physical Education, since 1976. I retired at the end of 2010 and have become a qualified Barefoot Trimmer. I now enjoy a great balance in my working life, as a part time trimmer and Casual Relief Teacher, particularly in P.E. I love catching up with my 3 children, Jesse 30, Fraser 22 and Kristy 19, and with friends.
6. Who are your favourite riders and why? Chris Chugg for his SJ skill and sex appeal! Will Enzinger for all-round eventing talent and gentle, accepting way with his numerous mounts. Ruth Webb for her commitment, bravery (2* eventing!) and support given to us mere mortals!
