INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES• Thispapercontains14 possibleassignments.Choose ONE assignment only.• There are seven visual stimuli and sevenwritten stimuliwhich cover the following subject

options: Art,Craft&Design (unendorsed); FineArt(endorsed); Critical&ContextualStudies (endorsed); TextileDesign (endorsed); GraphicCommunication (endorsed); ThreeDimensionalDesign (endorsed); Photography,LightandLens-BasedMedia (endorsed).• Ifyoursubject/optionisunendorsedyoumayworkinanydiscipline.However,ifyoursubject/

option isendorsed,youmustwork in thedisciplinerelated toyouroption.Forexample, ifyouareenteredforTextileDesign,makesureyoupredominantlyworkthroughthemedium/disciplineofTextiles.

• Ifyourworkistobemainlycomputerbased,forexampleingraphicdesignordigitalphotography,youmustprovideclearevidenceofyourcreativethinkingthrougheverysignificantstageofthedevelopmentalprocess.

• IfyouareenteredfortheCritical&ContextualStudiesoption,givedueregardtothewayinwhichyoudevelopandpresentyourworksothatyourCreative Makingcanbefullyrewarded.If you are entered for theThreeDimensionalDesignoption, your submission should takeaccountofutilitarianandfunctionalconsiderations.Outcomesmaytaketheformoffinishedpieces,prototypesandfull-sizeorscalemodels.Theycouldbeone-offpiecesorcapableofsmallbatchormassproduction.

• The‘preparatoryperiod’and‘sustainedfocuswork’willbemonitoredbythecentretoensurethatallyourworkisentirelyyourown.Youmusttakeallpreparatorymaterial,whichyouareconsideringsubmitting,totheplacewhereyouwillbeworkingwhenyoubeginthetwelvehoursfocusperiod.

• Thereisacompulsory‘Stretch and Challenge’formprovidedasaseparatedocument,whereyouare required tobrieflyexplainhowyouhavedealtwith theassignmentacross the fourassessmentobjectives.Thismustbesubmittedwithyourworkandwillbereferredtowhenitisassessed.Remembertosignanddatetheformtoverifythatyouaresubmittingentirelyyourownwork.

• Attheconclusionofthepreparatoryandfocusedperiodsofworkyoushouldselect,presentandevaluateyourmaterialandsubmititformarkingbythecentre.Onceyouhavestartedthetwelvehourfocusperiod,yourwork,includingallthepreparatorymaterial,willbesafeguardedbythecentreandyouwillnotbeabletoretrieveit.

• EachpieceofworkmustbeclearlyidentifiedwithCentreandCandidatenamesand/ornumbers.Ifyouareincludingworkwhichisnotentirelyyourown,suchasquotesandimagesproducedbyothers,itisessential thateachoftheseisspecificallyidentifiedandacknowledged.Failuretodosocanhaveseriousconsequences.

• TheControlledAssignmentisworth40%ofthetotalmarksforA2.• Theoutcomedoesnothavetobeafinishedpieceofworkbutyoushouldcompleteenough

todemonstrateyourabilitytotaketheassignmentthrougharesolvedconclusion.Ifyouareenteredformorethanonesubject/optionyoumustundertakeadifferentassignmentforeachone.

• All second-hand source material must be properly acknowledged. Do not plagiarise andremembertousesupportmaterialinventivelyandresourcefully.

• Whereyouproducewrittenworkyoushouldensurethatitislegibleandthatyourgrammar,spellingandpunctuationareaccurate so that themeaning is clear.Youshouldusea formandstyleofwritingwhichissuitableforpurposeandorganiseyourinformationclearlyandcoherently,usingspecialistvocabularywhenappropriate.
