Galapagos Islands

Describe the site• This formed by thirteen Islands large, six Islands medium and 215

islets of size small.

• The islands have a beautiful landscape and it has great biodiversity of flora and fauna

• The islands are habitats for species such as sea turtles, dolphins, sharks, whales, coral reefs, iguanas, lizards, cormorants, albatrosses, sea lions and penguins.

Where it is?

•The Galapagos archipielago is located in the pacific ocean,betwen the

equintial line at approximately 970 km,in the west of the continent

ecuador.

When it was listed?

• Unesco declared the Galapagos Islands a World Natural Heritage Site in 1979.This islands were listed on April 2007 as a World Heritage Site

in Danger because There were combat to the afuereñas species that was one of the main problems highlighted by the Unesco to warn of

the risk and the danger in which they are the islands. The Ecuadorean government makes many efforts to save one of its environmental

patrimonies

What is anything was happened to the sit?

•On July 29, 2010, the Galapagos Islands were removed from the list of patrimonies in danger of extinction by the Unesco Heritage Committee

The archipelago has the largest source of tourism income and receives 200,000

tourists per year.3 Ecological tourism has also been developed in order to preserve

the species.

Does the site have many tourism?

Do people live at the site?

•The islands have more than 25000 habitants

Is the site famous for any particulary?

• Yes, it is famous for the different types of animals, some of which are almost all that are left there. It is estimated that the formation of the first island

took place more than five million years ago
