ĐỀ SỐ 1:

There is no place like home

The sentence “there is no place like

home.” This saying always makes a

deep impression on my mind

whenever I think of it.

My home isn’t just a place where I

sleep and eat; it’s a gathering place

for my friends and family. It’s a

place where I don’t have to hide my

emotions, because everyone who’s

ever there are those who care about

me. I can be myself, and I don’t have

to worry about what other people

think about me.

Although many of us, when we think

of home, think of homework,

annoying siblings, and chores. We

never seem to look beyond all of that

and see the importance of home.

Stop and think for a second, what

would your life be like without your

home? No home means no shelter,

no shower, no bed, and nowhere to

feel truly safe.

I don’t just love my home because it’s

a great place to relax and be myself,

but because my family lives there

too. I love my family, and it’s

wonderful to have a place to be with

them, because honestly, I’m not

home very often. No matter how

many homes I have in my life, I

know that the feeling I have at home

will never change, because of my

family.

In a word, I really love my home and

it’s a great place for me to live for

good with my parents, sibling’s love,

care and protection.

ĐỀ SỐ 2:

The difficulties in learning English

and how to overcome them

Learning English is very important for

everyone; however, it also has many

difficulties. I personally have some

difficulties in learning English such

as: pronunciation, English grammar,

and writing. But I have my own

ways to overcome these troubles.

English pronunciation is my first

obstacle. The pronunciation in

English puzzles me a lot because the

same letter has different sounds. For

example the letter “a” in “bath” is

not pronounced in the same way of

that in “bathe”. Generally verbs and

nouns are pronounced differently

although they are written the same.

Record is a good example to

illustrate it.

In order to solve this puzzling

question I carefully study The A.P.A

(The International Phonetic

Alphabets) which helps me

pronounce English words correctly.

Compared with Vietnamese, English

grammar is much easier. However,

this does not mean that learners meet

no difficulties in learning it. It took

me a long time to learn how to

master the tenses in English

grammar. I try to learn and do

exercises day by day, then I answer

the difficult questions by myself.

In writing English, English language

has its own style. In order to drill

writing skills, I have tried to read

famous novels of distinguished

America and English writers.

After long and hard years of English

study, how pleased I feel when I am

able to read English and American

authors without any obstacles and

difficulties at all.

ĐỀ SỐ 3:

Which do you think is more

valuable – health or wealth?

People said that “health is more

precious than gold”. Therefore, I

think that health is more valuable

than wealth. The fact is that money

is very important in life because

money can help to satisfy most of

our basic demands in life. However,

money is not all because there is still

one thing that is more important than

money. It’s health. In fact, when we

are healthy, we can work and earn a

lot of money for our life. In

addition, we can enjoy our life and

perform many dreams and ambitions

during our life. A healthy person is

certainly optimistic and has belief in

his or her life. Furthermore, if we

are not healthy, we may get some

serious diseases that can not be

cured, even we have a lot of money

with us. In these cases, money is

nothing. With mentioned things, it is

clear that health is more important

than wealth.

ĐỀ SỐ 4:

WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO

LEARN ENGLISH?

English is the most international

language. Many people all over the

world use English in fields of life.

Thus learning English is very

important and vital.

The first reason, it is spoken as a

native language in the United States,

Britain, Australia and etc. It is also

used as a second language in the

remaining parts of the world. English

is an important language to master

because it is a gateway to world

scholarship and international trade.

In our country, English is the main

foreign language which is taught in

schools and widely used in business.

If we know English, we can read

various kinds of English books to

widen our knowledge, to

communicate with foreigners easily

and find good jobs in foreigner

companies easier.

In brief, it is necessary for us to know

English. If we know English well,

we have a better chance of

improving our lives.

ĐỀ SỐ 5

There is a lot of things to see and do in

Ho Chi Minh City, especially if

you're adventurous. Exploring on

foot is a great way to meet people,

discover, and learn more about their

culture.

From exhibitions about traditional

Vietnamese culture to modern art

and the country's history, Ho Chi

Minh City has many choices if

you're interested in museums and

galleries.The streets themselves are

filled with history, and throughout

the city there are many statues and

parks that honour Vietnam’s past.

Two landmark markets in Ho Chi

Minh City are also the attractive

destinations you should visit. Cho

Ben Thanh, located in District 1

across from the bus station, is

probably the best known. It is

especially popular in the evening and

at night, when food vendors set up

stalls and locals and tourists alike

gather to eat and shop. The other,

Cho Lon, is a huge Chinese market.

You will not see as many tourists

here, and the variety of goods is

amazing. Both markets are a lot of

fun, regardless of whether you're

souvenir shopping or just browsing.

Moreover, Vietnam’s reputation as

one of the world’s tastiest street food

nations is well deserved such as:

noodle, sea food, various cakes and

so on. You can have a much better

meal elsewhere for just a few

dollars.

In conclusion, ho chi minh city is one

of the greatest place to visit. I

suppose that you should come,

discover and enjoy the beauty of this

city,

ĐỀ SỐ 6:

How do you spend an evening rain

Many people don’t like the rainy

season, but for me I like it very

much because it often brings me joy

and comfort. After hot months, the

rainy season comes in May and

finishes in November. The first rain

usually makes everybody feel at ease

and relaxed. My family often gathers

in the living room and watches TV.

After watching and talking together,

I go upstairs to my private room on

the first floor. I open wide all the

windows so as to enjoy the fresh

cool air. Then I sit down and begin

to study. The quiet atmosphere of a

rainy evening helps me solve

puzzling problems quickly and learn

long lessons by heart easily. The

rhythm of the rain is really a

wonderful music. Drops of rains are

gently pattering on the window

panes. After doing my homework, I

shut the windows, turn off the lights

then switch on the bedside light and

lie down on my lovely bed. I turn on

the tape recorder and listen to my

favorite songs. The songs mingled

with the rhythm of the rain. It brings

me the minutes of wonderful

relaxation after mental stress. In

general, I myself enjoy staying at

home during it rains.

ĐỀ SỐ 7:

ADVANTAGES OF LIVING IN

TOWN

There are many advantages of living

in the city. In the city, the houses are

supplied with electricity and

drinking-water. People go from

place to place very quickly by

motorbike, by bus or by taxi.

Housewives can buy everything they

need in shops and supermarkets

everywhere. Children study at the

schools near their houses. For

entertainment, city people can go to

theatres and amusement centers.

Urban workers always earn more

money than the laborers do in the

countryside.

Therefore, young people find it more

suitable to live in the city, but it is

not so good for the old to live there.

Advantages of living in town

Living in the countryside (town)

brings us many advantages. Many

people are moving to the countryside

to live nowadays. (In my opinion, I

think there are some reasons for

people to choose the countryside to

live). The first, the country is less

polluted, so you don't need to worry

about your health condition.

Moreover, in the countryside the air

and water are so clean and there are

many plant species. It makes our

health better; we can live longer. The

second, we are free to enjoy

beautiful and peaceful landscapes.

You can enjoy walking in the forest

and picking mushrooms, hunting or

fishing. Thus we will not be stressful

and tired. Another advantage is that

you may easily build a big house and

the garden for your children to play.

With the above advantages, I make

sure that all of us will choose to live

in the countryside and spend our

wonderful times enjoying the best

things there.

Describe your best friend

All of us have our own friends.

However, to have a best friend is not

easy at all. I myself always

appreciate friendship and maybe I’m

happy to have Nam as my best

friend. Nam and I have been best

friends for 12 years. Nam is 26 years

old. He has black hair, a broad

forehead, a straight nose and bright

eyes. He is very good-looking. He

has a kind heart and is easy to make

friend with everyone. We study in

the same class from elementary

school to university. So we always

share difficulties in studying as well

as in life. In class, Nam is always at

the top. He is good at every subjects,

but he never shows pride in his

abilities and always tries to learn

harder. I myself like Nam very much

because of his honest and

friendliness. He is always ready to

help his weak friends in their study.

He always gives me advice when I

have difficulties. All in all, I’m very

happy to have Nam as my best friend

and I try to keep our friendship

forever.

ĐỀ SỐ 8:

Benefits of sports and physical

exercises

Everyone has his own ways to have

good health. I myself like playing

sports to keep fit, attractive and

strong. Thus in my opinion, I always

appreciate playing sports because

they have vital advantages. First,

playing sports is essential for good

health. It tones muscles, strengthens

bones and makes heart and lungs

work better. Thanks to these

benefits, we will feel more active,

strong and flexible. As a result, our

body can prevent diseases and we

can live longer. Second, it is very

important in modern life that playing

sports helps us eliminate stress from

work as well as study. We are facing

tiredness, insomnia(mất ngủ) and

stress nowadays. Thus playing sports

will be a good way to provide energy

for tired body. Last but not least,

playing sports is essential for

students because it will fill students’

free time. By playing sports, students

don’t waste time and money playing

games. It is also a good way to help

parents eliminate their worries for

children. All in all, in my point of

view, I always agree that sports are

good and important for us. We will

have meaningful life thanks to

playing sports.

THE BENEFITS OF SPORTS AND

PHYSICAL EXERCISES

Many people think that sports and

physical exercises are unimportant.

Some even consider them mere

amusements. But in actual fact,

sports and physical exercises are

very helpful.

Sports such as running, swimming and

boxing make our body strong,

prevent us from getting too fat and

keep us healthy. They also prove to

be effective treatment for some

illnesses such as rheumatism (thấp

khớp), stomach-ache, mental

sickness and heart troubles.

Physical activities in the form of good

games are particularly valuable for

character training. They can help to

improve our intelligence, patience,

self-discipline and unselfishness.

Because of their great benefits, sports

and physical exercises are taught in

all schools. No wonder that the

World Cup of Football and the

Olympic Games are enjoyed by

millions of people all over the world.

ĐỀ SỐ 9:

My first day to school

That morning, my mother drove me to

school. I felt frightened when I saw

so many students running about in

the school field.

I was in tears when my mother left.

Then Some friends began to tease

me, I was much annoyed. One pulled

my shirt while another pulled my

ear. A third boy challenged for a

fight. I was frightened and began to

cry. My teacher seeing me crying

came to me and asked me why I was

crying. When I told him my “story”,

the teacher punished the boys, and

from that time onwards they stopped

bullying me. We had no lessons on

the first day. It was indeed a

memorable day.

ĐỀ SỐ 10:

THE ADVANTAGES AND

DISADVANTAGES OF

TELEVISION

Television is a very popular means of

communication and entertainment. It

is enjoyed by millions of people all

over the world. In fact, most of us

spend too much time watching it

nowadays. However, television has

its advantages and disadvantages.

I agree that television helps to widen

our knowledge with its news

programmes and documentary films.

It also entertains us with dances,

plays and songs.

However, television has its

disadvantages. Many children are so

interested in watching TV that they

neglect their studies. Besides, not all

TV programmes are good. Some of

the films shown on television

encourage violence and sex. They

have a bad influence on the

audience.

So, I think we should only choose

good TV programmes to watch.
