(Romans 8:3) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:(Romans 8:4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The Old TestamentWas Good

Yet It Had A Weakness

The Flesh Needed HelpJesus Would Provide

That HelpThrough His Holy Spirit

(Ezekiel 11:19) And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

(Ezekiel 11:20) That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

The Old Testament Promise

(Ezekiel 36:26) A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

(Ezekiel 36:27) And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

(Hebrews 10:1) For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

(Hebrews 10:4) For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.(Hebrews 10:10) By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.(Hebrews 10:12) But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

(Hebrews 10:14) For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.(Hebrews 10:15) Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

(Hebrews 10:16) This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

(Hebrews 10:17) And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

About The Old TestamentThe Apostle Paul Wrote:

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (Galatians 3:24)

But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. (Galatians 3:25)

The examples, the teachings, the principals of the Old Testament are all there to point us to Jesus and cause us to believe in Him.

The Old Testament is still good to read, to study, and to learn from. In it are found

good examples, good principals, and good teachings, that should cause us to live right.

Its purpose is to point us toFaith in Jesus and To Be Filled

With His Spirit.

(Matthew 5:17) Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Jesus Taught:

Offering FulfillmentTo The

Old Testament Promise

(John 7:37) … Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

(John 7:39) (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

While Jesus Was Here On Earth He Would:- INTRODUCE HIS KINGDOM -- INSTRUCT HIS FOLLOWERS -

To Preach the Kingdom- Shed His Blood and Give His Life -

So That We Could Enter Into His Kingdom - And Command HIS FOLLOWERS -

To Wait for The Promise That Would AllowThem Access To His Kingdom.

His Resurrection

The New Testament - GospelsThe Gospels:

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, tell the story of Jesus while he was here on earth.

In the Gospels we read of:

His BirthHis Death

His Miracles

His TeachingsHis Life

(John 14:15) If ye love me, keep my commandments.(John 14:16) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;(John 14:17) Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.(John 14:18) I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

During His Ministry Jesus said:

In The Same Chapter Jesus said:

(John 14:26) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

(Acts 1:4) And, being assembled together with them,

commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.(Acts 1:5) For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

“Jesus”

Jesus said:

(Acts 1:8) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The New Testament - Book of ActsThe History of the First Church

(John 3:3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.(John 3:5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

The New Testament Church Was Born

When They Received The Born Again Experience

(Acts 2:4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

(Acts 2:37) Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

(Acts 2:38) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The Old TestamentPointed To Jesus

AndThe Salvation He Would Offer

But That SalvationWas Not In

The Old Testament

In The “Gospels”Jesus Forgave Sins

But No One Was Born AgainNo One Was Baptized In Jesus Name

No One Received The Holy Ghost(John 7:39) … for the Holy Ghost was not yet given;

because that Jesus was not yet glorified.

In The “Church Letters”Much Was TaughtAbout Being Saved

But In All The LettersThere Is No Record

Of Anyone Being Saved

The “ACTS” of The ApostlesIs Where People

Came Into The Church

Example - Acts Chapter 2(Acts 2:4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Example - Acts Chapter 8(Acts 8:14) Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:(Acts 8:15) Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:(Acts 8:16) (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)(Acts 8:17) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Example - Acts Chapter 10(Acts 10:44) While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.(Acts 10:45) And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.(Acts 10:46) For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,(Acts 10:47) Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?(Acts 10:48) And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Example - Acts Chapter 19(Acts 19:5) When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.(Acts 19:6) And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

(2 Timothy 2:15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
