Headteacher’s Message
October marks Black History Month in the UK and at Garfield our pupils have been learning about the many diverse achievements black men and women have made both in the past and currently. Tonight (6-8.00pm), we have our annual International Evening which celebrates the diversity of our school community. We have many fantastic performances planned and there will be food cuisines from all over the world, cooked by our wonderful parents. I hope to see you there.

Grasshopper Assembly
On Friday 4th October, Grasshopper class performed their assembly about
World War Two. They recounted some of the key facts about the war,
including that millions of children were sent away from their families to
live in the country where they would be safe from the bombs. We
imagined what that might have felt like, and read out some letters home
to our families telling them how much we missed them.
The children finished with the
message that everyone suffers in
war, and that we all need to work
towards lasting peace in the world.

Visit to The Museum of London
Year 4 visited the Museum of London last week as part
of their topic on Roman Britain. For a few hours, we
were transformed into historian detectives searching
for artefacts through the Roman Gallery.
We travelled back in time and had an insight into the
lives of citizens, freemen and slaves.
It was a fun day with hands-on learning and fantastic
teamwork.
We are most grateful to the accompanying parents.
