Dear Parents and Carers House Cheer, which has taken place across this week, is a remarkable event, not only because of the exceptional efforts of the athletes, but because of the collaboration which underpins every performance, the fantastic leadership of the JSLA Year 11 students who organise and run the whole event and the way in which hundreds of students each day offered such support for their peers, regardless of their year group or House affiliation. I am privileged to be one of the judges at the Final, and at the time of writing the winner is yet to be revealed; what is clear at this stage is that it will be a very challenging decision! Our Head Girls, Sophie and Freya, have been leading House assemblies this week during which they have promoted Rag Week which takes place next week. Once again, this event looks like it will raise thousands of pounds for their chosen charities, which this year are Shelter, The Meningitis Trust and The Tadworth Trust with a range of activities including University Challenge, I’m a Celebrity and the infamous Teachers’ Top of the Pops.
It has been a pleasure to meet lots of Year 11 students this week to determine their choices for Sixth Form and to review their mock results. I hope that the many parents who attended Parents’ Evening on Thursday found it useful in identifying next steps. Several Year 11 students have been involved in the victorious netball and hockey fixtures this week; congratulations to all team members who represented the school so magnificently.

I am afraid I must reiterate my request that parents do not drive down Whitehorse Drive or the surrounding roads. We have been informed that residents of Oakmead Green, a private road, will now be noting down number plates of parents who park in this road and passing them to the Police, as they have been subject to robust, and at times aggressive responses when they have tried to engage in a dialogue with those who have parked there. I have been inundated with complaints about this issue over the last few months and whilst I recognise that most of these roads are public access, it would be extremely helpful when students have to be driven to school that they are dropped off elsewhere and walk down Whitehorse Drive. Finally the results of our Junior Leadership Team election are now in Many congratulations to all those elected by their peers; I am very pleased and excited to have the opportunity to work with these fantastic students over the next 12 months (details on page 9). Have a lovely weekend Ros Allen @RoseberyHT

Rotary Young Chef District Semi Finals
Rosebery sent Lucy Sedgwick 9PX and Amalie Osborne 9EY to the District Semi-Final of the Rotary
Young Chef, last Saturday, which was held at South Thames College, Morden. The students cooked
their chosen menu in front of a professional panel of chefs. They were under time pressure and had
to prepare, cook and serve their chosen three course menu in 2 hours! The students worked hard
and presented their dishes on time …… after judging, a presentation took place and both Lucy and
Amalie were awarded a cookery book and certificate, presented by the Deputy Mayor of Merton, Cllr. Judy Saunders
and Mr Jim Onions, Governor of Rotary District 1145. Unfortunately, Lucy and Amalie did not make it to the District
Final, however it was a valuable experience which both the students enjoyed. Many congratulations to them both for
taking part in this National Rotary Young Chef Competition.

any amount will be very gratefully received. Thank you.
