Hello ladies!
I want to begin by saying welcome to Henderson State University! You have al-ready made such a wonderful decision in your life by choosing to come to this school. Now
it is time to make another decision, whether or not to join Greek life. This decision,
for me, wasn’t very easy. I wasn’t sure if this would be the right thing for me to do.
However, I know now that it is one of the best decisions I have made.
Each of the NPC sororities on Henderson’s campus is unique in their chapter values,
personalities, and interests. Each chapter has numerous beautiful, intelligent, and
passionate women that I have been so blessed to have in my life. There is one
thing; however, that ties all of us together as sisters, our relationship with NPC and our dedication to uphold its values and standards. It is this sole tie that has made us all better
women, not only within our chapters, but also on campus and in society.
It is my hope that you will find your HOME in one of our NPC chapters. Something
very special to all is the philanthropy we represent. Whether it be Special Olympics, Habi-
tat for Humanity, or Autism Speak, each chapter strives to promote awareness, raise funds, and
volunteer for their philanthropy.
My fellow Rho Gammas and I are here for your help. Pleas do not hesitate to come to us with questions
or concerns. We are here to help you find your HOME in NPC and we are willing to do whatever it
takes to help you figure out what that is.
I hope to see all of you at Formal Recruitment so that you can get a chance to meet each of the
amazing ladies of NPC! If you have any questions regarding recruitment or Greek life, feel free to
get in touch.
Best Wishes,
Mallory Bell—Recruitment Director mb131067@reddies.hsu.edu
Dear Potential New Members,
The next four years will be exciting times of transition and develop-
ment, times of intellectual, emotional, and personal growth. I rec-
ognize that much of that growth and development will happen
through experiences outside of the classroom.
Fraternities and sororities are among the organizations
that foster the enriching and rewarding opportunities for
growth that are so characteristic of the college years.
The sisterhood and brotherhood of Greek life
provide not only an encouraging environment for your academic work, but
also an established platform for deeper engagement with the Henderson campus and the Arkadelphia
community.
Our Greek chapters develop leadership skills and a commitment to service. Greek life at Henderson also offers special op-
portunities for friendships and fun. The relationships you can develop in a fraternity or sorority are important to your well being
and to your sense of connection to the campus and the world beyond the campus. In fact, the friends you make in college will
enrich your life forever, and the Greek community provides a network of alumni that stretches around the world.
There are lots of ways to get involved in college, and Greek life is among the best. But you should look for the routes that work
best for you. I do want you to consider your academic success as your highest priority, but I also hope that you will use these
next four years of your life to explore your community and your values, and make your college years all they should be.
In Reddie Spirit,
Chad Fielding Assistant Vice-President & Dean of Students
Tips For Potential New Members
Tips For Potential New Members
FROM THE GIRLS WHO
KNOW...
keep an open mind—do not stereotype a chapter or
Greeks in general! To find the best fit for you, you’ll need to
dismiss stereotypes, meet people, and form your own opinion.
You might hear people talking, but never trust their judgment
over your own!
ask questions—we encourage you to ask questions about
chapter values and programs when you are talking to other
members. Definitely check out our Henderson Greek Life Fa-
cebook and twitter page. Taking that first look will help you
be more aware and give you a better understanding of our
community and its members.
do not go to Chapters’ Parties/Socials
(outside of formal recruitment) until after the
bid day period has concluded! You have the rest of your
college career to enjoy social activities, and you do not
want to jeopardize your opportunity to participate in
formal recruitment. Remember, if anyone reports seeing
you attending social activities before the conclusion of
formal recruitment activities, you risk being removed
from the recruitment process...and we’ll be there keep-
ing an eye out–don’t risk it!
be yourself—pick a chapter that matches your per-
sonality—don’t try to match theirs; you’ll be thankful you
did in the long run. Remember, we’ve been there too and
we can’t wait to welcome you all to the Henderson Greek
community in September!!!
Sincerely,
The Panhellenic Council
