Welcome!By now, you should have watched our faculty’s video to

find out all about us and what you can expect.

The Language and Communication Faculty is made up of

the Modern Languages Department and the English

Department.

On the next few pages, you will find some activities.

French Activity 1

1. Draw around your hand on apiece of paper

2. Write FIVE facts about yourself in French (one on each finger of your paper hand)

3. Colour in your paper hand and decorate it with all of the things you like.

I have a picture of the Scottish poet Norman MacCaig tattooed on my left shin.4. I once visited the Beano Office to star in a Children’s BBC programme.

1. In 2019/2020 I became two times Scottish silver-medallist in boxing and I have taken part in a national training program with boxing Scotland in the same year.

2. I am French, one of my favourite meals is frog legs, with noodles and a nice salad on the side (it actually tastes like rabbit/chicken, you would be surprised, it’s delicious!) My least favourite, despite being French is snails... Yuk, I don’t advise them.

3. I am part of a military firemen band in France, I play bugle, base drum, cymbals in it, depending on what they need me to do. During my free time I also enjoy playing keyboard and singing, but I am really shy when it comes to singing.

4. I enjoy drawing, singing, and doing sports in my free-time. I have taken part in a singing contest in my hometown last summer and went up to the finals.

1. I do travel a lot and I have visited more than 45 countries already. My favourite one is Costa Rica. 2. My mum is French and my dad is Spanish, I can speak these two languages and more. I visit my French and Spanish families twice a year.3. I love sports. I do swimming, yoga, Zumba, tennis, badminton, etc... One of my favourite hobbies is cycling. I can cycle more than 50 kilometres every day.4. Every week, I try to read two books and watch at least one new movie my friends have recommended.

1. I wanted to pursue a career as a cowgirl well into my teens.2. I have read two 'Harry Potter' novels but watched ALL the films many times.3. I love reality T.V. shows like 'I'm a Celebrity...' and 'SAS Who Dares Wins...'4. I deliver fresh eggs to other staff members

1. I love dogs and have a wonderful yellow Labrador called Poppy. Poppy is very special because she is totally blind but she certainly doesn’t let that stop her from chasing her ball!

2. I hate bananas! I split my tongue open when I was 7 and was fed so many mashed bananas that can’t go anywhere near them now.

3 I love to sing and when I was a student one of the jobs I had was hosting a karaoke night.

4. I had to have emergency spinal surgery three years ago following a parachute jump where my chute failed to open. Although I have made a really good recovery I have been left with lots of nerve and muscle damage down the left side of my body and walk with a stick and have a splint on my leg.

Tip: Take time to think carefully about some really interesting and unusual true statements. That

way we will find it harder to spot the lie!
