Students in this profile placed 1 level below in either Number & Operations (NO) or Algebra and Algebraic Thinking (ALG)
Students in this profile are having difficulty with skills and concepts related to quantitative reasoning; they may struggle with base ten computation and understanding fraction concepts, or they may struggle to understand multiplication and division concepts and the algebraic relationship between these two operations. Many students will find challenges in ..... Read more
* Students Needing Differentiated InstructionResults indicate that these students are significantly behind in the quantitative areas of number, operations, and alegrabicthinking. These students are likely to need review of many other foundational skills in the quantitative areas of number, operations, and algebraic thinking before they are ready for the level of instuction described here. For more informationabout differentiated instruction to meet their needs, see their individual student reports.
Number-Base Ten
• Round whole numbers to the nearest ten or hundred.
• Add and subtract multi-digit numbers with regrouping.
• Multiply and divide within 100.
• Multiply single-digit numbers by 10 and by multiples of 10.
Students who struggle with operations involving regrouping often lack the conceptual understanding that drives the algorithms. These students may benefit from working with concrete or visual models in order to focus on the place value concepts behind the process. Once students understand why the process works, they can be guided to see the relationship between the models and the algorithms, and eventually use the algorithm alone.
Number-Fractions
• Use fractions to name parts of a whole or set.
• Show fractions on a number line.
• Use models to show equivalent fractions.
• Express fractions with denominators of 10 or 100 as decimals.
• Decompose a fraction into a sum of fractions with like denominators.
• Add and subtract fractions with like denominators.
Challenges with fractions often relate to not understanding how fraction notation represents a part or multiple parts of a whole or a set.
Be sure students read fraction names appropriately (two thirds rather than two over three) and understand that, for example, two thirds means two copies of one third. This provides the basis for understanding fractions greater than 1 as well as for later adding and subtracting unlike fractions. Give students repeated opportunities to practice representing fractions and equivalent fractions on a number line, with a variety of models (fraction strips for parts of a whole, counters for parts of a set), and with fraction notation.
Algebraic Thinking
• Write multiplication sentences to represent equal groups and repeated addition.
• Solve problems involving partitioning in equal groups, including identifying theremainder.
• Solve problems involving sharing equal groups, including identifying the remainder.
• Know multiplication/division fact families.
Students at this stage will likely benefit from reviewing the basic concept of multiplication and division. Present both the repeated addition model and the array model since both of these will become useful in different word problem situations. Having a very solid conceptual foundation will help students apply strategies that will develop fact fluency, while fact fluency will also help them apply concepts to solve word problems. While students are still developing their conceptual understandings, be sure to use small numbers that represent easy-to grasp quantities in discussion examples as well as in independent work. Present problems involving larger one-digit numbers only when students are more confident of the concepts.
Fluency
• Know multiplication and division facts through 100.
The students in this group may have difficulty recalling basic multiplication facts. Discuss with them strategies for remembering facts, or recalling facts based on other known facts, such as that the 4s are simply the 2s two times. Give students smaller goals for remembering facts, starting first with 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s, then moving on to the more difficult-to-recall facts. Remind students that once they know one fact in a family, they can use that fact to recall the other facts in the family. Use a table to illustrate that the commutative property reduces the number of facts that need to be memorized. Provide daily practice as necessary. Have each student keep a personal record of which facts they know and which they still need to learn.
Essential Vocabulary
• Math terms related to essential concepts at this level include equivalent, factor, multiple, product, remainder, dividend, quotient, and divisor.
Fluency with select math vocabulary terms enables students to understand instruction, follow directions, process and discuss mathematical ideas, and work more confidently. Help students build essential math vocabulary, especially by encouraging them to use the words in discussions.

Management: RostersOn the Roster screen, under Management, you can view and manage individual users, classes, and report groups. Administrators have all the same capabilities described for teachers in the Teacher Success Guide, plus:
• School administrators have the ability to edit and add teachers and students within their school.
• District administrators can add school administrators, teachers, and students. They can also move students, teachers, or school administrators between schools.
Note: If a district has chosen to automatically sync its SIS with i-Ready, you will not be able to make manual roster changes, other than creating report groups, directly in the i-Ready interface.
Export Student Login Information for a Grade

2. Select Rosters and Manage under Students.

Set the Start Date for the First Diagnostic of the Year
1. Select Management from the top navigation.
2. Select Settings and Manage under Assessment.
3. Select the + icon to expand Diagnostic Start Date.
4. Make your selection for when students should take their first i-Ready Diagnostic. The system defaults to Now but you may also select a date In the future.
5. Select Save.
Note: By default, the first Diagnostic starts when a student logs in for the first time. Administrators must manually change the start date to the first day of the Diagnostic Window to keep students out of the assessment before they are scheduled to take it.
Turn Growth Monitoring On, if Using, and Review or Adjust Schedule
Growth Monitoring is set to Off by default at the start of the academic year for each account.
1. Select Management from the top navigation.
2. Select Settings and Manage under Assessment.
3. Select the + icon to expand Growth Monitoring.
4. Turn Growth Monitoring assessments on for all K–8 students or select grades within your school by selecting the appropriate checkboxes. District administrators will only see district-level selections.
5. Adjust your schedule for Growth Monitoring assessments as needed.
6. Select Save.
Note: To assign Growth Monitoring assessments to classes or individual students, go to Assess & Teach > Assessment > Select “Assign New” in the Growth Monitoring section.

Do you want to auto-assign Growth Monitoring assessments for Grade K-8 students?
Growth Monitoring tests are short adaptive assessments that provide a projection to check whether each student is on track to meet Typical Growth and Stretch Growth measures for the year. We recommend taking these no more frequently than monthly in between scheduled Diagnostics. If you choose to assign regularly scheduled assessments, a default schedule is set at the beginning of the year. You can edit this schedule as needed.
Note: School administrators can override the district schedule and set up a schedule for their own school. In addition, if a district schedule is not set for their district, educators can still assign individual Growth Monitoring assessments.

Reportsi-Ready provides a wide range of reports that you can use for various administrative and instructional purposes. These reports provide actionable data at the District/School, Class, and Student level. Throughout the 2018–2019 school year, you will see new, interactive school and district reports for i-Ready administrators.
Create Reports
1. Select Reports from the top navigation.
2. Select the report level and category you are interested in.
3. Select Math or Reading under the report you would like to view. You may also select View Legacy Reports to create one of our previous i-Ready reports.
a. Interactive reports will open on screen.
b. For PDF reports, use the dropdowns to choose additional options, and select Create Report. The PDF will open in a new browser tab.
Please note: Interactive district and school Online Instruction and Standards Mastery reports are planned for release after the printing of this guide. In the meantime, these data will only be in PDF reports.
Create ExportsUnder Reports, you may also export a variety of data for your district or school. These data are generated in a CSV (comma-separated value) file type, which can then be used in part or whole as an import to other systems, or can be saved and worked with as an Excel file. Please note that all exports function similarly.
1. Select Reports from the top navigation.
2. Select All Exports.
3. Select the Reading or Math link under the report you would like to create.
4. Select Create Report.
5. Select View Export Queue to view your export when it is ready.
Note: You can also navigate to the Export Queue by selecting Reports > All Exports > Export Queue.
