Jewish festival of Passover (or Pesach, where the European name for Easter “Pasch” comes from)– 8 day feast to remember the escape and freedom of the

Jewish people from Egyptian slavery

Many of the first Christians were of Jewish origin– Added the celebration of Easter at the end of the Passover

celebration, to remember the life of the Messiah (Christ’s) life, which was foretold by the prophets.
