San Francisco's many banks. Luckily Bat-Kid heard about the robbery before the money and robber disappeared. Driving to the scene with Bat-man and police right behind them they grabbed the rob-ber and locked him up. Thanks to Batman and Bat-Kid San Francisco is now
safe from danger.
The city of San Francisco was under at-tack! Two of Batman's worst enemies came to San Francisco, or actually Gotham City, which was transformed by residents. The police Chief Greg couldn’t handle the prob-lem so he had to call Bat-man and Bat-Kid! Miles Scott was diagnosed with leukemia at 18 months. When the Make-A-Wish Foundation asked him
what his one wish would be he quickly replied – to be Bat-Kid! The kind people of San Francisco decided to grant his wish. Bat-Kid es-corted by Batman, Eric Johnston, drove around in the Bat mobile (a black Lamborghini with a Batman decal).Bat- Kid saved a woman who got tied to the cable car tracks with a handkerchief tied around her mouth. A bank robbery almost took place in one of

Have you heard what happened in the Philippines? They had a TYPHOON! It killed about 5,600 people. It wrecked most of the houses, also water and debris is every-where. It was really bad because the Philip-pines are a series of islands, so the water did most of the damage. The good thing is that they aren’t going to live like that forever. People from all over the world are sending in supplies and money to help people who live there. You too can donate by going to a web-
site called World Vision International. Photo courtesy of Publicradio.org

Hi reader I’m Ashlyn O. and I am in 5th grade. I am in Mrs. Windham’s, and just finished cheering for the Eagles. In my free time I like to make bracelets. You have probably seen me in the talent show dancing. That’s all I have to say now but
Why do we hang stockings at Christmastime? Let’s find out. Once there lived a kind man and his three beautiful daughters. After losing all their money, he and his three daughters had to move to a peasant’s cottage. The daughters had to do their own cooking, sewing, and clean-ing. He had no money for them to get mar-ried. One night the girls hung their stock-ings over the fireplace to dry. That same night, Saint Nicholas (Santa Claus), stopped by the man’s house. He saw
through the window that the family had gone to bed, and he noticed the girls’ stockings. Saint Nicholas knew of the family’s money problems and was inspired. He took 3 little gold sacks from his pouch and threw them one by one down the chimney and they landed in the girls’ stock-ings. The following morning when the 3 girls woke up, they found enough gold for them to get married. The man was happy to see his
daughters marry and he lived a long,
happy life.
TOFFEE TIME By Ashlyn O.
It’s Christmas time and everyone has their favorite sweets. Something I look forward to is my Mom’s Christ-mas Toffee. A quick and easy treat to have on hand, give to neighbors, or as a hostess gift for that last minute party. Here is the recipe; ½ lb. butter 1 c. sugar Saltine crackers
1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips Sliced almonds (or other chopped nut) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a standard cookie sheet (approximately 11x16, with a rim). Spray sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Lay out Saltines on the cookie sheet, covering it completely. In a saucepan, melt butter, add
sugar and stir until frothy. Pour mixture over crackers. Bake 8 minutes, Remove and distribute chocolate chips evenly on top. Return to warm oven for 1-2 minutes. Remove and spread melted chips with a spatula. Sprinkle with nuts on top and refrigerate. When chilled, break apart into serving “bark like” pieces. Enjoy!!!

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS By: Nikki W.
Have you ever wondered why we set up Christmas lights? Christmas light are normally set up for Christmas. People started putting up candles before lights were in-vented. Around the 20th century, they started to put up wires with electric lights on them. Now we can also detached the lights from the

CANDYLAND By Grace Z.
Why does Santa
have a garden? Because he likes to hoe, hoe, hoe!
Do you remember going to a winter candy land? That’s because it was just a few days ago. It had fun games, stores, and even Clif-ford the Big Red Dog! It was a big success, due to many volunteers including more than fifty student volunteers. Everybody that I asked loved the breakfast. The favorite place was the Cakewalk and there were enough deserts to last until 11:00! Eight out of ten people that I asked won at the Cakewalk! If people there weren’t winning, they were buying. The book fair sold a lot of books. One that seemed
to be popular was the new Wimpy Kid “Hard Luck”. This reporter had a lot of fun at Candyland. That’s all I have to say! But, if you want news our paper has it!

The book Wonder is an AMAZ-ING book about a young kid who has a facial disorder. When August (also known as Wonder) goes to school every one makes a weird face and laughs. Since August has never been in a real school (except for his older sister Via’s school) he is not ready to go to a school. August has had friends before, but they were used to him. Since they moved away, August has been invited to a small
amount of parties. The book Wonder is

I know this is not normal to be up a girl’s ally, but I really like Turbo. Turbo is about a snail who has al-ways wanted to race but he is a snail … I mean how fast can a snail be? He practiced and practiced he just was not fast enough. Until one day the incident happened. Don’t you think that would be an awesome family movie? Go grab that popcorn and I’ll get the 3-D glasses … We are going to a movie!
TWO AMAZING INVENTIONS MADE UP BY KIDS! By Grant O.
Did you know that some of the world’s greatest inventions were created by kids? The trampoline was invented by 16-year-old George Nissen. He got the idea after seeing trapeze artists fall into the safety net below and thought it would be more fun if they could keep bouncing around. When he first made the trampoline he called it the “bouncing ring”. Even in col-lege he was still perfecting it. He got the name “trampoline” by adding an “e” at the end to the Spanish word for diving board. The Popsicle was invented by 11-year-old Frank Epperson. He made it by using mixed soda water powder and water all in a cup along with the stirring stick. After
that cold winter night the mixture became solid. That was the world’s first Popsicle. The Popsicle was made in 1905 and he didn’t use idea until 1922 at a fireman’s ball. There he gave out the treat. It was originally called the “Eppsicle” and it got changed to “Popsicle” after Epperson’s kids called it the “Popsicle”. Three years later, 60 million Popsicles were sold. Now we know who invented, what they invented, and why they invented the tram-poline and Popsicle. This just goes to show no matter how old you are you can make anything.

On December 10, 2013 the 4th graders went to Coloma to dis-cover gold! If you found gold you would yell EURKA! When you go gold mining you need a pan, water, and sand with little rocks. All of the 4th graders came home rich that day!! We got to see the replica of Sutter’s Mill because the original one got torn down by a flood. We also went on a hike to see the monument of James Marshall and
his cabin. After we had discovered gold, went hiking, and saw the monu-ments, we got to make little pouches to hold our gold. We made up gold miner names and wrote the names on the pouches. For the entire day we got to pretend that we were a forty-niner from the gold rush, and make a story of how we came to Coloma and found gold. So you can see how much fun you will have when you are in 4th
grade! (You will come home rich!)

Wild Card or Not? By Jack G.
Coming off a Super Bowl up-set, the 49ers are hungry once again. Right now they’re working on getting into the NFC Wild Card. The Seattle Seahawks hold 1st place, but after the game on December 8th, Seattle now has two losses. Frank Gore had a 55 yard run to set up the game winning field goal. The 49ers hopefully win all of their remaining games in regular season and go get another Super Bowl win! The AFC is a hard league. You have Peyton Manning on the Den-ver Broncos, Tom Brady on the New England Patriots, and Andrew Luck on
the Colts. The AFC is all about quar-terbacks; hard throwing quarterbacks. Going into the playoffs it’s going to get cold, and it’s going to get more in-tense. Will Collin and his crews get the job done? Who will come out of the AFC on top?
