Why Use Foldables?

• Students love them

• It is active - cutting, folding, flaps

• Breaks up the information - easier for students to process

• No paper cutter necessary – fit into INB (glue or tape onto page)

Ways to Use Foldables

1) Chapter / Unit Summary

2) Note Taking – one lesson

3) As a SLOW DOWN for processes that require students to use steps

4) Compare / Contrast similar topics

5) Unit Vocabulary

Effective Foldable Lesson

1. Create the foldableo Use a template (Word) to create the folding guidelines

o Make sure students don’t fold inside out

o Help strugglers as examples

2. Model the foldableo Presentation software

o Document camera

o Whiteboard

Time Savers

1. Make blank foldable templateso Use a template (Word) to

create the folding guidelines

o Dotted lines to cut

o Solid lines to fold

2. In Class Time Saverso Type part of the foldable

o Add graphics
