What is a “Foldable Note”? Ø   A    foldable    note    is    a  three  dimensional  graphic  organizer  styled  page  of  info  in  a  student’s  notebook

Ø Can  take  on  a  variety  of  forms,  complexities  and  detail

Ø They  “reinvent”  the  traditional  style  of  writing  notes

Foldable Notes Ø   Designed  to  further  engage  students  in  the  mapping    of    their    math  learning

Ø Can  be  used  effectively  to  present  new  information  and/or  to  summarize  content

Ø Might  just  reinvigorate  your  practice  J

“Foldable Notes” are NOT… Ø   …a  time  Filler  for  class  time

Ø   …guaranteed  to  raise  your  test  scores  or  make  every  kid  understand

Ø   …limited  to  just  basic  content

How does one “make” a Foldable Note? Here’s what you need: Ø Source of inspiration - Colleague, friend, mentor - Pintrest, Social Networking, etc.

Ø Creativity Willingness (courage?) to take a risk

The basic steps: 1)  Brainstorm the “need to know info”? 2) How can that info be clearly mapped, organized, engaging for kids to create?! 3) Is it interactive?

Your turn! Your  task:    Create  foldable  note  that  could  be  used  as  an  instructional  tool  for  your  students.

1. Choose a topic: Slope Types of angles Derivative/Integral rules

FUNCTIONS

2. Brainstorm the “need to know info” 3. What could kids create? 4. Is it interactive?
