Engineers at a coal fired

piping system. They wanted

One month after ENEFLOW Power cells were installed on the line, the hard white scale had turned yellowish and softened considerably.

Magnetohydrodynamics
(MHD) is a relatively
young scientific
discipline. Simply
put, it refers to the
principles of motion of
a fluid affected by a
magnetic field. Developed
mainly during the last three
decades or so, it has scarcely
reached maturity.
Yet, in recent years magnetics
have been at the cutting edge
of dramatic new technologies
applied to medicine, nuclear
engineering, thermodynamics,
propulsion and transportation.
Examples include MRI,
magnetic resonance imaging,
which has revolutionized
diagnostic medicine. Other
practical applications of
magnetohydrodynamics
include moving ships without
propellers and trains without
wheels!
Building on these extraordinary

fluid flow systems performance

the 21st century through
applied MHD for controlling
mineral scale build-up and
scale-induced corrosion.

When hard water is subjected
to fluid dynamic changes
(pressure, velocity, tern
perature), dissolved minerals
precipitate out of solution and
migrate to the area of lowest
fluid velocity typically, the walls
(interior surfaces) of pipes and
equipment restricting the fluid
flow. This scale also acts as an
insulator, dramatically reducing
heat transfer efficiency.
However, when a conductive
fluid passes through a
magnetic field, an
electromotive force is induced
through the fluid perpendicular
to the direction of fluid flow and
the flux field. This electrical
discharge through the fluid
induces a positive polarity in
the fluid. The magnetic flux
field further causes polar water
molecules to be aligned along
the flux or magnetomotive
force vector, thus affecting the
kinetics of crystallization of the
minerals in the water. Random
covalent bonding of the
nucleation points of these scale
forming molecular clusters is
reduced and, therefore, these
minerals stay in suspension.

precipitate out of solution and
form hard scale on the walls
of pipes and equipment. This
process is called "magnetic
homogenization."
Interestingly, in fuel
applications, the ENEFLOW

ENEFLOW systems don't technically 'soften’ hard water.
‘Softening’ usually means replacing some of the most
essential minerals in the water with SODIUM, which doctors
warn endangers health; or removing those minerals with
special filters. Both methods present problems because of
their pollution, health risks and/or wasted water. ENEFLOW
systems treat water without chemicals through the principles
of physics.
Furthermore, ENEFLOW systems accelerate reagent
diffusion, making chemicals such as disinfectants, biocides,
corrosion inhibitors, etc., more efficient and effective.

The benefits of :
The Magnetic Circuitis divided into two parts:
(1) The permanent magnetic flux generators
which supply the magnetomotive or driving
force.
(2) The particular path the flux takes in getting
from one pole of the flux generator to the

Production on a small well such as the one pictured is approximately +/- 85 barrels per day. A loss of 5 barrels per day is attributed to paraffin build-up.
But, lost production is only a small portion of the cost associated with paraffin build-up. You also have to take into account the cost of ‘hot oiling’ or ‘stripping’ a well to remove the paraffin build-up. The average cost for cleaning a well of this size is approximately $400 per cleaning and this has to be done on an average of once or twice a month.
The ENEFLOW Power Cells were installed on the two inch line coming off the well head for approximately 60 days and the end result was that the ENEFLOW units removed the existing paraffin and prevented any additional build-up.

Unit fits copper, plastic, galvanized iron, steel and stainless steel pipes with sizes ranging from 2 in. to 24 in., O.D. Units are typically ‘ringed’ around the pipe using the following formula as a guide:
One (1) pair for every (2) inches of pipe diameter.
(For example: 8” pipe = 4 pair)
For very turbulent fluid flow situations or on large pipes (greater than 12 in. O.D.), a multi-stage installation may be necessary for optimum performance.
