Purpose

• Site of sexual reproduction

Terms• Stigma- Top of the female part of the

flower that attracts pollen (sticky)

• Style- Long tube going from the stigma to the ovary

• Ovary- Where the eggs (ovule) are

• Pistil- Female flower that includes the stigma, style and ovary

• Petals- Colorful anatomy to attract pollinators

• Receptacle- Bottom/base of flower

• Sepals- Green protective structure around the flower bud

• Calyx- Group of sepals

• Anther- Structure that holds pollen

• Filament- Long hollow tube that supports the anther

• Stamen- Male parts including anther and filament

• Egg/Ovule- Female sex cell

• Cross Pollination- Pollen from one flower lands on the stigma of another flower

• Self Pollination- Pollen from a flower lands on the stigma of the same flower
