• Smokies are made up of many short peaks and ridges that are diversely forested. Unlike the Himalayas that are treeless, relatively young, and have 14 of the world’s highest peaks.

• 2. Northern Hardwood-middle to upper elevations(3,500-5,000 ft) New England type forest. Sugar Maple, American Beech, Yellow Birch. Great colors. Every 1000 ft elev.=250 miles N.
