Members and Friends of First Christian Church of Fayette,
So, when are we going to start worshiping onsite at the church again? Once again, by the time you read this things may be completely different than they are now when I am writing this. Fortunately what I have to write isn’t very de-tailed because I don't have a lot of information to share. Last week, there were a set of guidelines from the State of Mis-souri on practices churches should consider when reopening their facilities. The next morning, those guidelines were re-scinded and new guidelines were said to be coming soon. So far, the only thing I have heard is that churches are able to reopen after the stay at home orders expire on May 3, 2020, but we are expected to maintain six feet of separation be-tween those in attendance. I am still hoping a more detailed set of guidelines like the previous ones will come along and we can consider the best way to move forward when the time comes.
For now, we plan to continue with the streaming only wor-ship on May 3, 2020. We will have further discussion to see if we will be ready to worship onsite for May 10, 2020. We may still have construction going on at that time, so it might be just as well to wait a little longer. When we do return it will be different. I expect some distancing measures to be in place and we may restrict the number of people who attend at one time. We may trade weeks when we attend according to where our names fall in the alphabet or some other way of grouping people. We may have people sit in the fellow-ship hall or a different area where they can watch on one of the TVs. Communion may not be served. If it is, we will take precautions to reduce risks. Worship will likely be shorter than normal.
All of this is speculation for now. I wish I had more infor-mation for you, but as you know, we are in a very fluid situa-tion. What makes sense one day doesn’t work the next. We will keep improvising for the time being. I hope you are well. May the peace of Christ be with you. Stephen

Progress as Promised!
Monday, April 27th was the start of
work on our new front steps. After
many years of patching concrete, this
Spring the board voted to replace all
steps and slab work, including the
sidewalk that goes to the North
Entrance. Jim Martin, of Prime
Construction, from Pilot Grove received
the winning bid to do the work.
How is the Pentecost offering used? Received in many congregations on May 31 and June 7, 2020
Each year, half of this offering stays in the local Region or Area where it’s collected to start and uphold new churches. The other half is used across the United States and Canada by New Church Ministry to support the recruiting, assessing, training and coaching of new church leaders at events like Leadership Academy. Our church planters remain committed to answering God’s call to serve their neighbors, spread the gospel, and make more Disciples. But they need the nurturing and generous support of people like you. Please help our new church movement continue to take root, bear fruit and grow more Disciples every day!
Please give generously to this year’s Pentecost offering.
