嘉禾大廈 10/8/2008

大火現場為旺角彌敦道687至689號樓高15層的嘉禾大廈，閣樓的新華夜總會首先起火，當局經初步調查後認為起火原因無可疑，但因為起火單位沒有安裝防煙門，令火警後整幢大廈陷入煙海中，造成傷亡慘重

消防工程師學會理事梁錦得表示，根據現時消防條例，嘉禾大廈這類商住樓宇需要加裝自動灑水系統及防煙門。如大廈無防煙門或沒把門關好，一旦發生火警，會形成煙囱效應，熱力與濃煙經梯間不斷擴散至各樓層，令住戶逃生時更危險。

觀塘偉業街一間車房後門維修工場。11樓頂層一間電腦公司姓鄧女職員憶述，事發時公司有20多人辦工，各人聽聞火警鐘鳴響，但眾人誤會警鐘誤鳴未有理會。直至鄧女嗅到走廊梯間傳來濃烈焦煙味，

各人才如夢初醒意識到發生火警。但當時梯間已經充斥濃煙無法逃生，各人惟有以濕

毛巾掩口鼻，走上天台躲避。

懷疑在焗漆房附近有油漆及天拿水等其他高揮發性易燃物品受

熱起火

On Sunday 30th October 2005 there was a major fire at the

University of Southampton. The fire destroyed the

Mountbatten Building (Building 53), which included some

laboratories and offices used by the Optoelectronics

Research Centre (ORC). The ORC was split between two

buildings, and the headquarters in the Physics Building

(Building 46) were not directly affected.

有學生批評宿舍內不但沒有自動噴灑等消防設施，連滅火筒也沒有。有學生指出，因宿舍晚上10

點半停電，疑因該宿舍有人前晚使用電熱棒時，沒有拔掉電掣，到昨日上午6時恢復供電後，導致發生火警。另有消息稱，火警疑因使用熱水壺

不當引起。

2. Identify the other fire wardens/safety representatives on your floor.

3. Identify who checks common areas or rooms belonging to departments located elsewhere on campus.

It will be of benefit for fire wardens to

consider the following points before the

next real event or fire drill:

8b. 樓梯口是經安全設計，可用作短暫逗留。行動不便人仕可以在樓梯口等候消防員救援。如果採取這安排，就定要確保行動不便人仕已事前獲通知緊急聯絡電話(主校園為39172882) ，或已指派特定人仕在第一時間通知消防隊長。

8b. If there are physically handicapped persons in your area, evaluate beforehand whether the handicapped persons can negotiate the escape route without undue risk. If they cannot, staircase landings offer well protected emergency refuges where physically handicapped persons can wait for the assistance of the fireman. When such arrangement is in force, make sure that the physically handicapped persons have been informed the emergency telephone number ( 39172882 for the Main Campus ) or another person informs the fire brigade upon its arrival.
