Competitive advantages to develop tourism projects in the field of human, cultural and natural, in which Costa Rica is ranked 33rd in the world and ranks sixth in Latin America. The report also notes that in 2011 TTCI the main weaknesses of the Costa Rican tourism sector, its small number of cultural sites (ranked 104), the time required to open a business, trade (ranked 125), the state of Infrastructure Land Transport (ranked 111) and the poor quality of port infrastructure (ranked 132).
Most foreign visitors come from the United States (39%), Canada (7%) and countries of the European Union (16%), which allows to receive approximately $ 1,000 USD on average per tourist. In 2005, tourism contributed 8.1% of GDP and represents 13.3% of direct and indirect jobs. Since the beginning of 2000, tourism generates more revenue than all exports of bananas and coffee.

INTERNATIONAL TOURISTS ARRIVALS NUMBERS IN COSTA RICA SINCE 2006
In 2011, just over two million people visited Costa Rica, of which almost half are North Americans , the United States of America and Canada . In 1986 , the country had registered 260,840 visitor arrivals . The progression ( ie 700 %) in 25 years is spectacular! 2011 marks an increase of nearly 5% over 2010 , which had been a bad year for tourism in Costa Rica and worldwide amid economic crisis ... The French , with nearly 9 % growth are for the first time a little more than 38,000 to visit our country. These are the Germans in Europe spray scores with 10 % growth .
Other european countries register a little evolution except Spanishes and Belgians citizens, Tourists expenses are evaluated at 112 USD per day et stay 11 nights in the country,
