THE  FAMILY  BLOCK  PARTY  HIGHLIGHT’S  MAY  FIRST  FRIDAY  Friday,  May  3,  2019  *  Carbondale,  Co.  

 “Spring  Into  Fun”  at  THE  FAMILY  BLOCK  PARTY  on  Carbondale‛s  FIRST  FRIDAY  in  May  from  4-­‐8  PM  on  4th  Street  Plaza.  100%  of  the  event  proceeds  benefit:  Colorado  Animal  Rescue,  The  Carbondale  Recreation  &  Community  Center  and  several  Carbondale  Creative  District  Youth  Programming  &  Organizations.    Admission  is  free  and  all  event  vendors  will  have  activities  and/or  crafts  for  the  kiddos.  Highlights  in  the  KidZone  include:  

• Carnival  Games  &  Bounce  House  by  the  Carbondale  Recreation  &  Community  Center  • Arts  &  Crafts  by  HANDMAKERY  • Carbondale  Art’s  Rosybelle  Mobile  Maker-­‐Space  • CARE’s  adorable  adoptables  • Other  KidZone  Vendors  Include:  Aspen  Valley  Land  Trust,  AZYEP,  Carbondale  Fire  Department,  

Carbondale  Middle  Sschool:  Band,  Jazz  &  GSA,  Evergreen  Zero-­‐Waste,  FirstBank,  Kid  Mountain  at  The  Orchard,  Smiling  Goat  Ranch,  Rising  Crane  Training  Center,  Roaring  Fork  High  School:  Band  &  Jazz,  Roaring  Fork  Conservancy,  Roaring  Fork  Hounds  Pony  Club,  The  Orchard,  Waste  Management  and  More!  

 This  year  we  are  working  with  Carbondale  Middle  School’s  GSA  (Gay,  Straight  Alliance),  a  next  generation  LGBTQ  racial  and  gender  justice  organization  that  advocates  for  safer  schools  and  healthier  communities.  The  CMS  GSA  hopes  build  a  safer  community  for  ALL.  Not  only  will  they  have  a  booth  at  the  event,  but  we  are  planning  the  first  annual  PRIDE  PARADE  down  Main  Street  at  5:30  PM  as  part  of  the  Family  Block  Party.      We  will  once  again  feature  a  Youth  Stage  presented  by  the  Andy  Zanca  Youth  Empowerment  Program.  We’ll  have  over  100  valley  youth  participating  in  performances  throughout  the  evening  on  the  Main  Stage  and  in  4th  Street  Plaza.  A  special  thanks  to  band  &  jazz  students  at  Carbondale  Middle  School  &  Roaring  Fork  High  School.    The  event  will  feature  local  eats  for  purchase  from  Slow  Groovin’  BBQ  and  Sweet  Coloradough,  and  a  CARE  Beer  &  Spirit  Garden  featuring  Marble  Distilling  Co.  &  Roaring  Fork  Beer  Co.      The  silent  auction  has  over  60  items  and  is  still  growing!  Highlights  include:

About  The  Family  Block  Party  The  Family  Block  Party  is   in  its  8th  year  and  has  become  an  annual  event  during  May’s  First  Friday  celebration  in  downtown  Carbondale.  The  event  benefits  “kids  &  dogs”  in  our  community  and  is  a  labor  of  love  for  it’s  founder  and  organizer,  Carbondale  local,  Michelle  Marlow.  This  year,  Michelle  is  pleased  to  be  working  with  her  daughter,  Payton  who  is  now  a  6th  Grade  student  at  Carbondale  Middle  School.
